5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes, but be careful on the sizing., July 9, 2010

GENERAL REVIEW:
These are great shoes. Very comfortable and require no break-in period. There is plenty of room in the toe-box for your toes to stretch and move normally. The soles are indeed quite flexible. Obviously it's not quite an absolutely barefoot feeling - you're wearing shoes after all. But for a good-looking everyday shoe, these are perfect. I think they are on par with other popular barefoot shoes as far as the thin soles (even with the insoles). Obviously there is slightly less foot flexibility, but these are a good choice if you want to wear barefoot shoes that look great when you're not working out. And the fact that the company tries to produce eco-friendly products makes them appealing.

SIZING:
I did have an issue with the sizing. I wear a 5.5 in most shoes and so I went up to a EU 36 as the company advises. I had to return these. I do have rather narrow feet, so I'm not sure if this contributed in any way to the difference in sizing, but the 36 was too wide as well as too long. But the EU 35 fits me perfectly! I'm just sad there aren't more styles that come in this size.

These shoes are attractive and exceptionally comfortable. They have more toebox room than any other shoe I've worn. The black or grey ones are appropriate for a casual workplace. I am a ChiRunning and ChiWalking instructor - for me there was no break in period and they felt great, even walking (and running) on concrete. If you walk with a heel strike I believe these shoes will be very helpful in improving your walking technique. The effort at reducing the environmental impact of the shoes is a great bonus and help me to feel very good about them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terra Plana Yukam, August 25, 2010

Please buy one size bigger than your normal size as recommended by earlier reviews. I usually wear size 8(EU 38) and I purchased size 9 which left one finger width between my big toe and the front of the shoe. The shoe does feel loose on my foot as compared to the Terra Plana Lucy shoe of the same size (EU 39), however the Lucy's had lacing for tightening. I will have to keep the insole within these as well wear socks for them to not slip off my feet. If I had gotten my normal size(8) the shoes would have been too short which would have caused my big toe to rub against the front of the shoe. However they are comfortable shoes with lots of space to spread your toes in the toe box and will not cause any stares unlike the Vibram five fingers. They also do not have as much of a barefoot feel as the Vibram five fingers but they look like conventional shoes and you have the same walking stride as if in the Vibram's.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st Time Terra Plana purchase, October 29, 2010
The shoes arrived timely. I am very happy with my purchase. I almost didn't buy as I have purchased other shoes and was disapointed by size/construction. These shoes are like walking barefoot with padding. They look and feel great and are very light. They can be warm but I live in Florida and used to wearing sandals and other open toe shoes. I always wear a 5 1/2B and I had to order this in a 5 but the rounded toe and overall softness and form fitting of the shoe I am able to wear them without any discomfort or breakin time. Tere Plana recmds. taking time to get used to the shoe since they are intended to help with posture and I did notice a little discomfort but not enough to stop wearing them. I keep them right at my door ready to slip on. These are great shoes.
