I picked this up at a great price from Amazon ($30). I based my decision solely on the picture and the published weight of the box, 48.6lbs. I'm not familiar with the brand, so for the price I went ahead and picked it up. I figured at almost 50 pounds it had to be heavy duty. WRONG. This thing came in a box about 8" X 8" X 8" and weighed 11 pounds. The description for this item is VERY misleading. It may be a very good grinder, I don't know because I didn't even open the box. I sent it right back. Not sure who would find this useful and for what type of work, maybe jewelry making, or miniature steam engines. Manicures, that's what it would be good for! And now the price is up to $60!
Not sure what the guy with an 8"x8" box got, but what I got was as described. Nice grinder. It takes a while for it to build up speed once you turn it on, but it's a good cheap grinder. Tool rests are stamped metal, nothing special. The bolt holes for the tool rest and eye protector are right on one side, but wrong on the other side (like they made both sides the same, so one is upside down!)
But it works, and I'll use it. I think it'd be great if you got it for buffing or a wire wheel and you took all the guards off and used it open. Obviously no one would suggest doing that, though ;)
