Like most modern colognes, Terre D'Hermes opens with strong citrus top notes, but these notes are accompanied with a smoked wood aroma. It's like peeling oranges or lemons while standing around a bonfire. After about 30 minutes, it dries down to a very pleasant earthy, woody aroma, with a hint of patchouli, and there is little trace of the smoky, citrus opening. The fragrance lasts all day but is never too overpowering. Even when I no longer smell it on myself, I get compliments from others near by. It has definitely become one of my favorite colognes, if not my favorite.

There are so many good reviews I will not waste time in describing the same notes as others have already done many times over... That said, let me just bottom line it for those who are vacillating as to whether they should plunk down the dough for this fragrance... The answer is a resounding YES! I must have about 50 colognes in my collection and have tried three or four times that many more, and this is tied with a couple others at the absolute top of my list. It lasts, it is versatile, smells incredible and it doesn't offend. Just get it and enjoy.

Many men's colognes make me vaguely ill: they're too sweet, or too flowery. I've been using Hermes new Terre for about 6 months now, and I can't tell you how many people have said, "Gee, you smell good!" And I smell like a man, not a flower garden!

A gift for my 25 yr. old son who is EXTREMELY discriminating as to his colognes. He LOVED this one as it is a fresh, woodsy scent with many soft, fragrant undertones about it. The scent is long-lasting, and frankly, the aroma just gets better as it is worn through the day. Believe me, it is worth the price.

This is a very good fragrance from a french designer. I have tried to move to others but keep coming back. It is a very Woody fragrance that fully matures in about 30 minutes. It stays on longer than any others that I have used. I always get complements and requests for the name of the fragrance. Highly recommended. Also wanted to mention that I always found it cheapest at Amazon and never had issues with my purchase.

I have never ever before been asked by so many people, what are you wearing? It is very distinctive, elegant, refined, masculine, you get the picture. Once you smell it, you get hooked. The first time I smelled it, I had to ask the person, what are you wearing? I had to have it.

This is a very good men's day wear perfume. The smell is not too strong but is very long lasting.

Terre D'hermes is a classy scent, once you pass the orange top notes, the gold pot appears under the rainbow. It's like that. The earth smokey woodsy smell comes to play at the end notes give the wearer this unique aura that separates them from the rest of the crowd. Heed this warning, people. Others will have to take a second whiff at you to reassess if their olfactory is still working. Yes, it's that unique. You might also want to be subtle, one spritz is all you need, anymore will kill D'hermes's miraculous work; you will smell like orange's skin concentrates. Just F.Y.I. this is my second thought of this fragrance. My initial reaction was horrible, I was disgusted by this bottle, it was as if Raid's bug spray going full force. I found that sniffing this cologne with a full stomach is more preferred because on an empty one it made me churned. There are no sweetness in this bottle here, only masculinity present, sorry to inform the sweeties but the playground is off limit.

I own several colognes from Hermes, both for men and from their unisex fragrances. I've gotten the most compliments while wearing this cologne. The scent isn't overpowering with its earthy notes. It has the smell of wood and pepper, but it's a very subdued masculine scent. It's a very subtle yet unique scent that is a breath of fresh air when you compare it to other colognes that are so sharp and pungent.

Absolutely love it!! This is possibly the best perfume to have come out recently (Well, Paul Smith's Story is possibly a close second)! Sephora sells it for 90$ and Amazon sells it for 46$!! Now, That's a sweet deal!! Anyways, the perfume lingers into the evening! It is somewhat earthy- don't get carried away with the initial citrus rush- it settles down into a more woody, earthy feel- U start experiencing the Vetiver and Grapefruit, a little patchouli! Somewhere within you will smell some cedar too! I think it is a great perfume; and if you want to buy it, don't waste your bucks at Fancy stores like Neiman Marcus or Sephora- it is cheap right here on Amazon!!
