5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet story, November 13, 2009

This review is from: The Truly Terribly Horrible Sweater...That Grandma Knit (Blossom Street Kids Books) (Hardcover)
Starts out as typical story of kid receiving a sweater for Christmas and him hating it. Any kid hates getting clothes for Christmas, but especially a homemade sweater - especially these days. But when his grandma visits and explains what each color meant to her as she knitted it, it became special to him, too, and he was proud to wear it. Grandma's like having their work appreciated.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Kid's Story, May 2, 2010

Ms. Macomber writes a fantastic Children's book writing with Ms. Carney. The story is so captivating cause Cameron is so determined to get rid of the sweater. It's creative and a little repetitive which makes it a great book for kids. My son soon started saying the repeated phrase along with me!

Cameron is a precocious kid who just wants to get rid of what he thinks is a horrible sweater. His friends will laugh at him if he wears it. His parents try to get him to understand that it took a lot of time for Grandma to knit it.

This is a story that I have had my eye on since I heard about it. It was all that I expected and more! It's a story that will be enjoyed by all ages whether the reader is a knitter or not. I laughed really hard and couldn't wait to see how it would turn out! I hope there is more to come in Children's books by these authors!

The book has a great message about meanings of gifts. There is a pattern for a sweater in the back that I haven't started yet, but certainly intend to try. It is specified for experienced knitters

I read this story to my grandbabies and then gave them the sweaters I had knit for them. My granddaughter (age 5) was first to receive her pink sweater, and when I turned to my grandson (age 3) his only remark was to ask "where's mine?". I think the story opened their minds and hearts to the value of a hand knit sweater. Thank you Debbie Macomber!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Grammi will love this book!!, June 19, 2010
My daughter has taught her twins (age 3) that it's really special to get something Grammi knit. When people comment on their sweaters, they reply "My Grammi made it and she makes me socks too!" So, I bought this book without even looking inside. Wow, what a wonderful book it is!!

Now that I've read it, I know that when their Mom finishes reading it, the request will be "Read it again, please"!!

I'm definitely recommending this to every knitter I know! It will make a wonderful gift for both children and Knitter Grammi's of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Truly Terribly Horribly Sweater That Grandma Made, June 4, 2010

This review is from: The Truly Terribly Horrible Sweater...That Grandma Knit (Blossom Street Kids Books) (Hardcover)
I originally bought this book as a prize gift for an Ugly Sweater Party I was having for my knitting group. When it arrived I had to read it and fell in love with the book. Although, I have not ordered another one for myself it is on my wish list. I thought it was a cute and funny story for anyone to read that loves to knit and wants to have a good laugh.

Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors and I was pleased to see her write a children's book with Ms. Carney. The story is really funny and sets off with Cameron trying to get rid of the sweater that his grandmother had knit him for his birthday. His disappointment in the sweater and the lengths that he goes through to try and hide this "awful" present are hilarious.

I just loved the illustrations and the facial expressions just make you want to laugh out loud! A joyful book for any knitter to share with their grandchildren!

This story will bring a smile to your face and I very much enjoyed it, but I also liked that the actual sweater pattern, and directions of how to knit the sweater, were included in this book, which made it the perfect prize for my party.

It's a story that can be enjoyed by all whether you're a reader or a knitter looking for a chuckle. I am looking forward to more books like this by Debbie Macomber!
