A Moderate Response to a Politically Charged Book,

This review is from: The Terror Enigma: 9/11 and the Israeli Connection (Paperback)
While most readers of Raimondo's book will probably have a strong response in one direction or the other, I did not find myself particularly offended ("that liar etc.") or outraged ("Israel is out of control") by Raimondo's book. However, this may be because I am both familiar with Raimondo's Antiwar column and with the nature of US - Israel relations. While Raimondo clearly establishes: (1) that the Israeli secret service was very active in the US just prior to the 9/11 attacks, and (2) that there was considerable efforts on the part of the US government to cover up this fact, Raimondo's deeper inferences in this book are less convincing. This is in part because Raimondo's book is largely a summary of the media coverage that the above mentioned Israeli activity received world-wide. Consequently, Raimondo's new book reads more like a collage of news stories pieced together, that are supplemented by his editorial view points, than a coherent thesis that is based on original information and well synthesized scholarly research. Nevertheless, the overall picture that Raimondo paints is disturbing and unfortunately somewhat believable. When Raimondo's thesis is considered in the context of what is undisputably known about US - Israeli relations (i.e., the US overlooking probable Israeli IAEA infractions and the general pro-Israeli attitude of the Bush administration with respect to the Israel - Palestine conflict), his charges certainly deserve more than a condescending dismissal that states that they are ridiculous.

A very necessary read.,

Fascinating, brief summary of all the evidence suggesting that Israel knew what the 9/11 hijackers' intentions were well before they carried them out and didn't tell us by one of the most independent thinkers around. Also speculates that the Israel government kept quiet because it was in Israel's strategic interest to set the U.S. against the Arab world and provides a brief history of similar behavior on the part of the Israeli government in the past. Pick up this book if you have enjoyed Raimondo's columns on antiwar.com--or even if you are just a patriotic American interested in the truth.

This book will change the way you think about 9/11 - and the resulting wars.Raimondo amasses so much evidence - all culled from "mainstream" sources -- that Israeli agents were tracking the 9/11 hijackers that I don't see how any objective analyst can deny it. The only question is: What did they know, and when did they know it? Oh, and: why didn't they tell us what they knew? Written in clear, incisive prose, "The Terror Enigma" is, I believe, going to be an underground best-seller. It's too bad the American media doesn't have the guts to uncover what Raimondo, an independent investigator and writer, has discovered on his own: perhaps, then, we would get some answers to all the unanswered questions about 9/11. As the Bush administration stonewalls the 9/11 Commission, which is charged with investigating and uncovering the truth about that seminal event, The Terror Enigma is an important piece in the puzzle, without which we cannot see the larger picture. Buy it, read it, and give it to your friends.

Explosive, exciting, and an excellent read,

If you're asking yourself what is the key to understanding how we got where we are today - embroiled in a senseless and increasingly out-of-control war in Iraq, threatened by terrorists at home and abroad, hated across the globe - I can do no better than to say: READ THIS BOOK!9/11 was the seminal event of our time, but we can't understand its consequences until we know how it might have been prevented - by our Israeli "allies" who were watching the hijackers 24/7. The evidence presented in this book proves beyond doubt that 1) Israel had launched a massive covert action in the U.S. in the months prior to 9/11, one that effectively diverted American law enforcement away from the activities of Al Qaeda. 2) Israeli agents were following Mohammed Atta and his crew of conspirators. 3) The Israelis knew a terrorist attack was in the making, but failed to warn us. Does Israeli complicity with the 9/11 hijackers change the simplistic "us versus them" terms set down by President Bush and his call for a worldwide crusade against terrorism? You bet it does. Get the facts. And get them to your friends and associates.

"Legal Immigrant" needs to leave my country,

This is a free country and we read whatever we want. Many people are extremely unhappy billions of our taxes go to Israel, paid more aid than any other country, and to have these people shoot holes into the USS Liberty.
Call us any name you want, but your disloyalty is not only unappreciated, but your backstabbing in our country and among the tax payers that have paid your way is completely unwelcomed. Eye opening book by the way. I recommend it.

9/11 and... Iraq? Nope! Saudi? Yeah, sure, but...,

... how many people realize that Israel was participating in some suspicious skullduggery during the months preceding 9/11/2001? Carl Cameron reported it for FoxNews in December 2001 (http://snipurl.com/6s6z), but the story received surprisingly little coverage. Justin Raimondo spells it out in this slim but important tome. The last chapter is worth the price of admission on its own, and as another reviewer pointed out, it will absolutely change the way that you view both the 9/11 attacks and the 9/11 commission's current feeble attempts to get at the truth. It is my fervent hope that the Freedom of Information Act still exists in 30 years so that we can perhaps gain some insight into the Israeli - 9/11 connection. In the meantime, I suppose that we -- the hoi polloi -- must settle for this.

Fascinating!,
By James Hall (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Terror Enigma: 9/11 and the Israeli Connection (Paperback)
This is a great read on a fascinating topic. The Terror Enigma reads like a fast-moving mystery-thriller novel - except everything the author relates is carefully documented as fact. The book is literally teeming with footnotes (187 of them, in the course of 96 pages!).What seems clear from the text is the following: The Israelis launched a major covert operation in the U.S. around the beginning of 2001, the purpose of which was two-fold: 1) To keep a close watch on the 19 hijackers and their confederates in the U.S., and 2) To divert U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies away from Mohammed Atta and his cohorts, and toward themselves. Raimondo draws back, however, from saying that the Israelis pulled off 9/11: what he does say, however, is that the Israelis had some foreknowledge of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and didn't tell us. I particularly liked his capsule history of Israeli "false flag" operations, from the infamous "Lavon Affair" to the more recent subsidies and support to Hamas (in its formative years). There's no way to understand 9/11 - and all that came after - without reading this short-but-explosive book.

Informative, but potentially misleading,
By Marion Delgado (Eugene OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Terror Enigma: 9/11 and the Israeli Connection (Paperback)
Raimondo is a good representative sample of the paleoconservatives and libertarians on the Right who are crying off on the PNAC master plan.
It goes without saying from, e.g., the results of a typical vote in the UN, that Americans get the most one-sided and hence inaccurate picture of the MidEast and Israel in the industrialized world. The evidence is compelling that Israel and its intelligence service knew about the 9/11 attack, which must be news to most Americans. And the camera crews searching the MidEast to find dancing Palestinians on 9/11 only had to stay in New York to find dancing Israelis. However, as Ellen Mariani's RICO Filing [...] indicates, either Israel or Mossad DID warn the United States on at least 3 occasions before 9/11. Moreover, German and Russian warnings were apparently checked with Israel before being passed on to the United States.[...] . The real scandal of 9/11 is much more on the American side - Israel and the other countries that warned the United States got a clear message from the combination of obfuscation and lack of interest the Bush administration showed - that they didn't want the warnings or care about them, and the other nations then acted accordingly. Had Bush sent several people over to Israel, Egypt, France, Jordan, Russia, and so on, with their "hair on fire" as Richard Clarke says counterterrorism people were feeling then, I believe the Israelis would have given the US everything it knew about the attacks.

Dangerously Intriguing,
By Ron Atkins "Ron" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Terror Enigma: 9/11 and the Israeli Connection (Paperback)
We all love a conspiracy theory, especially the kind that holds serious repercussions-as anything connected to 9/11 and Israel does. I don't know if Raimondo's theories are correct or not, I only know that the book was an interesting read and he presented some intriguing propositions. I hope history will prove him wrong because the alternative is too frightening to consider.
This book does not blame Israel for 9/11, but it does propose that Israel's intelligence was more proactive in identifying the threat to America than our own intelligence was. The million dollar question here is of course, If Israel knew 9/11 was imminent, did they attempt to notify the U.S.? Using information available to any citizen, Raimondo assembles a preponderance of evidence to support his hypothesis. I would recommend this book to anybody who considers him/herself informed. I wish Raimondo would have sent a copy of this book to the 9/11 Commission.

Nothing but the facts linked to mainstream sources,

This review is from: The Terror Enigma: 9/11 and the Israeli Connection (Paperback)
Raimondo is a very talented journalist who uses mainstream sources to connect the dots and raise awareness about what foreign governments are doing in America. He is a patriot and a Libertarian who follows in the steps of Murray Rothbard. His work ought to be gracing the pages of the New York Times but alas the press barons would rather keep him out of site than give him the audience he deserves.
