Book Description

July 2, 2008 Terror
Meet Mr. Terror - he's dapper, he's charming, he owns and operates his own very successful business... and, oh yeah, he's fifteen-and-a-half-centuries old and rotting fast! Doomed to decompose for all eternity, Terror forever replaces his festering limbs with fresh parts. The curse keeps him alive, but it's what's left of his twelfth-century sweetheart - encased in enchanted metal and serving as his right arm - that keeps him honest. Today, Terror runs a high-stakes private eye firm - espionage, investigations and assassinations for the extremely rich and extremely powerful. But after eliminating who he was told was a very bad guy, with extreme prejudice and in his own inimitable idiom, Terror learns he's been had -- he's just murdered a major government intelligence chief. Now, with the feds on his rancid tail and whoever set him up looking to tie their loose ends, Terror's on the run to clear his name and bring down the real bad guys. But the killers know exactly who they're dealing with, and they aren't making it easy for him... Prepare for blood, guts, sex, and salvation written by David Lapham (Stray Bullets) with jaw-dropping art by Patrick Zircher (Cable & Deadpool). Collects Terror, Inc. #1-5.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bloody blast, June 28, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Terror, Inc. (Paperback)
Marvel's MAX line has usually been more than worthwhile, and Terror Inc. is a prime example. Written by David Lapham (Stray Bullets, Daredevil VS The Punisher), Terror Inc. revolves around the cursed and frequently decomposing Mr. Terror, who due to his curse must often replace his rotting limbs with fresh parts. Terror also runs his own private espionage organization, and soon enough is duped into a plot that makes him a wanted man, and makes his mystical metal arm a hot commodity for a suicidal cult. Incredibly violent and often amusing, Terror Inc. is a welcome surprise and bloody blast to the MAX fold. Marvel's mature themed line doesn't usually offer much in terms of horror, and what little Terror Inc. offers in this department is refreshing enough. Patrick Zircher (Cable & Deadpool) provides the gore-drenched artwork, which gets better and better the more ridiculous the blood letting becomes. All in all, Terror Inc. is definitely worth your time, and definitely worth picking up for fans of bloody comic mayhem.

2.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, Inc..., February 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Terror, Inc. (Paperback)
I generally like David Lapham's work, but I could not get into this series. There is very little in terms of story here. Basically we get a little backstory on Terror a few centuries back and are introduced to his then love and now nemesis, which the series revolves around. Terror is out chasing after a magical arm he needs to restore himself back to normal and stop his decomposition. In the meantime, he has to feed off excess body parts from other humans in order to remain alive and intact while searching for his arm. His former love, now nemesis, meanwhile has acquired his arm and is attempting to attach it to herself so she can take over the world with her terrorist organization, by convincing her followers they will be immortal.

As I stated, the story sucked, but the artwork was decent and fit this character well. There is lots of gore and action if that is all you are looking for, but not much else.

Wouldn't recommend this unless you are looking for that which is stated above.

5.0 out of 5 stars MAX mini-series better than Limbo, August 3, 2009
This review is from: Terror, Inc. (Paperback)
well, anythings better than the Limbo this character had to endure. i think the imprint suits him well, due to

some creative writing and very solid artwork. story wise, instead of a reintroduction - we hit the ground running

on Terror's current gig, and get back story (never seen before).

the limbo was due in part to Terror having several conflicting back stories over the years. thankfully, this series

sets a relationship between the MAX imprint and Terror in motion and provides only 1 continuity to keep track of.

at this time, Terror has a second mini just finishing up that continues on to even more of his gory/limb retro-fitting adventures. and in support of my 5star rating the TPB is an excellent deal compared to 5 $3.99 issues. i had to have the issues as they came out, and i wasnt disappointed. but yea - this is expertly priced to sell. and a serious plus to the MAX titles is the lack of crossover. you can follow Terror's subsequent releases if you choose, of course.

but theres no contingent archs to follow or that lead into this story.

Terror Inc is stand-alone in a world of its own crafting. highly recommended!
