5.0 out of 5 stars TS: Lyrical Heavyweights, April 2, 2000
By Matt (Jersey) - See all my reviews
This album is hottt! Terror Squad shows they are one of the best crews in rap along with Wu-Tang and Mobb Deep. All six members come to the table fully loaded. They held nothing back on this album. On "Whatcha Gon do" Pun blasts away imitators and fakes. Joe calls out haters on "Bring It On". The young members of The Squad prove they are going to rule the game one day when people actually listen to them. Armageddon is gonna blow away those who haven't heard him yet. His material is so imaginative but his force makes it real. Cuban Link flows like water over the tracks. Prospect's "99 Live" should be an anthem anywhere there is true rap. Seis' "War" just bangs in your head. The only thing wrong with this album was that the whole Squad only performed together on one track "Pass the Glock". The most surprising tracks were "Rudeboy Salute", "I Know This Girl", "99 Live" and "Payin Dues". "Rudeboy Salute" featured Joe and Pun along with Buju Banton the rasta gangsta. The three different styles just mesh together to pound out one blazin track. "I Know This Girl" featured Cuban Link along with the Squad's R&B affiliate Tony Sunshine. The song's about 2 girls, 1's a sex freak and 1's a drug runner. On "99 Live" Prospect comes hard over a bangin beat. "Payin Dues" had Armageddon trading blows with Keith Nut. This was probably my favorite track. The chorus is hot. The rhymes are as tight as they come. Armageddon lays down a miracle of a beat. If you want an album with no intros, outros or skits, with only hardcore rap and a little tight r&b you can't do any better than Terror Squad The Album. Forget what haters are saying about Joe, Pun, and the Squad, put it in your car and ride for a couple hours.
