Someone is listening!,
By Paula Turcotte (Cleveland, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Terrorism & Oil (Paperback)
This book told me things I did not know and now I am concerned. I hear everyday about bad things caused by the oil industry but I didn't understand how important oil is to my life and my family. Mr.Adams said the terrorist know these issues and now I believe it. At the end of the book, the author said something like "I hope someone listens". Tell him that my family and I are listening.I hope the Washington politicians listen.

This review is from: Terrorism & Oil (Paperback)
Terrorism and Oil is a general summary of the oil industry and terrorism, focusing on Middle Eastern production, and demand in industrial countries. It includes a quick primer on extraction technologies, but doesn't belabor this or any other subject. Adams writes briefly and in absolutes about a number of complex historical events and outcomes of potential terrorist activities.
Typos and minor factual errors aside, the book needs a substantive revision. Canada, the largest single oil supplier to the US, and its vast network of pipelines are barely mentioned. Likewise Venezuela, a crucial US petroleum source, OPEC member, and totalitarian state, receives little attention. Charts and graphs are clear, but maps are over-generalized to the point of being little more than cartoons. Given that geography is central to many of the author's points, this will present a problem for any reader with a limited knowledge of the subject. The original list price of around $40 is extremely high for this slim read. If you read news about the oil industry and/or terrorism, you probably won't learn much from this book. However, if you're brand new to the topic, the book will save you the trouble of running-down articles in several different newspapers and magazines.

Eye Opening Read,

This review is from: Terrorism & Oil (Paperback)
Neal Adams obviously knows what he is talking about. He communicates the dangers that the world's oil supply faces with a calmness and sense of purpose. It is a non-technical read and can be easily read over a couple of days. I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to get clearer idea as to why it is so important for the U.S. to fight the war on terrorism.

Oil, Racketeers and Opportunists,
This review is from: Terrorism & Oil (Paperback)
Neal Adams is one of those uneducated morons with a low grade education who perhaps had some other people - with hatred for Arabs and Muslims - help him right the book "Oil & Terrorism." Just working in the oil industry as a firefighter does not make Neal Adams an expert on other cultures and religions. Adams lives in Houston and regretably he belongs to the same society, which I belongs to - The Society of Petroleum Engineers. In the age of lies and deception, this book will make a good reference for the ignorant and the hateful.
