5.0 out of 5 stars A riveting thriller based a real danger
The United States is never safe from those who would do it harm. "Terrorism in the United States" follows young Sherry Hannon as she finds herself dealing with what she has feared for quite some time: a terrorist plot against a Maine nuclear power plant. 1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrated Reading, February 13, 2010
This review is from: Terrorism in the United States (Paperback)
I walked passed a book signing, I am always open to a new read, and walked over. I am sure, Edward Brittingham has a wonderful story to tell about his career in the military. I grabbed his first book, but the font was overwhelmingly small. I picked up his newest book, Terrorism in the United States. I should have known after I read the first couple of paragraphs standing there that this book wasn't for me. But wanting to support any author who is in the area, I brought the book.
I was on page three and completely frustrated. I had to put the book down. I kept thinking that it's going to get better. I logged on to Amazon.com and seen that another reader felt the same way.
Mr. Brittingham's narration throws me. Am I reading fiction or an nonfiction book? So many sentences left me scratching my head. I do not understand the thought process that goes into each paragraph. I couldn't bare to move onto page 4. I hate to not finish a book, but as a reader, I don't the author's writing error's to be louder than the character. This is one of the first books that I have brought, and sadly would not recommend to others.

1.0 out of 5 stars sad, December 15, 2009
This review is from: Terrorism in the United States (Paperback)
While going to the local book store, there was a man, paralyzed on the right side of his body from a stroke- selling this book. I spoke with him, the author, regarding this text. He recounted how he was up for being promoted to Admiral, had a stroke and was forced to retire honorably. Since that time he had to learn how to do everything with his left side of the body and took to writing mostly fictional books in his retirement. I took pity on him, he is a hero to the USA.

However, after reading this book- those who have previously commented on it clearly never read it. The book jumps from setting to setting in a very jerky manner. The dialogue is lame and the characters are never really developed. At just over 160 pgs, one can have this fast read completed within a few hrs. Its a cheap thrill. Within the first 70 pages there are 4 sex scenes which have no place in the book beyond perhaps the authors appreciation of sex, not to mention the scenes arent even that well described, or necessary in the readers understanding of a fictional account to Terrorism in the United States. The importance of outlining failures in security measures are paramount to any policy setting, and for this the book is relevant.

Yet I stand firm. In 5 yrs if this author were to publish additional material, I gladly would see how his writing style progresses. Anyone of us at anytime can have everything in our life taken away from us via a stroke, hit by a bus etc. This man dedicated his life to serving the United States. Writing is his outlet and I commend him for it, and welcome his new material in the future to come.
