This is not a review of the basic Tersano Lotus machine. I own the Tersano Lotus Sanitizing base/bowl/bottle, and LOVE them. I do not love their replacement booster cartridges.

I have purchased several cartridge 4-pacs from Amazon, only to have them go bad within days or weeks of inserting them into the Lotus. (The crystal-colors change in the small view-window.) The last box of 4 cartridges had 2 of the four cartridges go bad while they were still in the unopened, sealed plastic-bags they were shipped in. I talked to Tersano about how fast the Lotus was going through cartridges, and they suggested I must live in a very moist location. (I live in San Diego, where we have had 'below normal' rainfall for most of the last 15 years...) NONE of the cartridges lasted 3 months, as other reviews reported. My machine counted easily up to 100 even after the cartridges had visually gone bad.

I still use the Lotus, but I have stopped buying the replacement cartridges. Customer-service at Tersano said the the machine worked fine without cartridges, they just improve performance by removing humidity.... My machine counts up to 100% without them, and without a problem. Tersano told me that as long as the machine counted up to 100, it was working, I see no reason to waste more money on cartridges that go bad before they can be used. Perhaps Tersano just needs to improve their air-tight (?) packaging.

If the fact that the Lotus counts up to 100 doesn't mean it is producing an effective level of sanitation-ozone, then all of the claims that are made about the machine's accuracy are in question. If the doesn't need the cartridges to work properly, why buy them?

My experience with Tersano's customer service has been outstanding. This product review is only concerned with the quality and possible uselessness of their replacement cartridges.

When I ordered my Tersanos Lotus Sanitizer (which works wonderfully well), I added a set of four booster cartridges to the order.

However by the time I began to think about replacing the cartridge that came with the sanitizer, I found that the Miami humidity had managed to seep through what seems like the very well sealed transparent individual cartridge package. Since the cartriges act as dehumidifiers for incoming air, I decided squeeze out the humidity from the crystals by placing the cartridge upside down in my microwave oven with a cup of ice a couple of inches away. I placed the cup of ice in order to avoid overly concentrating the microwaves on the cartridge while minimally raising the humidity in the oven.

I run the microwave for around 15 or 20 seconds. Afterwards the cartridge is surprizingly warm and the window shows some change of color along with beads of sweat. It would be nicer if the freed humidity had more of an outlet.

I believe these cartridges contain a desiccant that removes humidity from the air. Regardless you will not be able to generate ozone without them. They simply pop-off and on your Tersano appliance.

I love my Lotus products! They do precisely what they say they will do, every time. Easy to use, easy to maintain, brilliantly effective. I only wish the filter cartridges could be recycled. But compared to the green value of not buying bottles of chemicals over and over (or multiple bottles of more friendly products, like white vinegar), I believe this still leaves a smaller footprint. Love. It.

I have been using the Tersano Lotus for a number of years and found that Amazon had a great price on these. When I first bought the machine, the cartridges did not seem to last as long. Recently I have found them to last longer. (I still live in the same dry house!) I don't know if they changed how they manufacture the cartridges but I have definitely noticed that they last longer. I keep mine in the machine all the time. I also find that Amazon has a better price on these.

I have found my Tersano Lotus system invaluable. Having a 4-pack of replacement cartridges insures that I will always have one available. I do wish there was an easier method of determining when a cartridge needs replacement. I think I do so before required since I'm not sure how to judge the so-called green dot. In any case, I'm very happy with this purchase and plan to use the system for many years to come. If you're concerned about cleanliness in your home or with regard to the foods you eat and feed your family, this is a wise purchase. I was skeptical until I saw this and a few other products lab-tested on the Rachel Ray show. It performed exactly as advertised and that convinced me to order the system. You'll be very happy with your purchase of the system and replacement cartridges!

You either need a replacement cartridge or not. There is really nothing to review about this product. We like using the lotus sanitizer for cleaning our produce. It really makes it last longer and stay fresher.

As far as I can tell, this works just fine in the Tersano lotus LBU100 Sanitizing System, which is what I bought it for. I could do without paying this much for it especially after buying the big, expensive system. I will say that the reason it may not be lasting long is due to how often I used the sanitizing system. I use it for cleaning produce, sanitizing items and to make a free household cleanser that works great on killing mold outside the house (no more bleaching!). Other than the expense of replacement filters (this item), I love the system so I guess its a trade-off.

Very pleased with my Tersano lotus Sanitizing System. Like the fact that these replacement cartridges last around 3 months.

We bought the Tersano Sanitizing unit about a year ago. We buy a lot of fresh vegetables and wanted to be certain that we were getting our veggies clean. The unit hardly ever finishes sanitizing the water, it gets to 98% and then errors out. We thought maybe replacing the cartridge would solve the problem, but it did not. So we are left guessing. Does that mean that 98% of the water in the unit is sanitized? Or it was 98% of the way to being sanitized and then reverted. Is the water killing bacteria? We don't know. On the up-side, the water and the vegetables do smell very nice after sanitization, sort of like how the air smells after a hard rain and thunderstorm. Also, the produce does last longer in the fridge, so i assume it is working a little, but I'm left to guess.
