5.0 out of 5 stars I Love this Machine!
I live in Los Angeles where the water from the tap tastes like bleach. I used to buy 2.5 gallon containers of water every week. I have tried Brita and I guess I just have a picky palette because I still preferred bottled water. That is until now. The water treated by the machine tastes like bottled water, it has almost no taste at all. And the water is almost sweet...

(REAL NAME)
I live in Los Angeles where the water from the tap tastes like bleach. I used to buy 2.5 gallon containers of water every week. I have tried Brita and I guess I just have a picky palette because I still preferred bottled water. That is until now. The water treated by the machine tastes like bottled water, it has almost no taste at all. And the water is almost sweet tasting. I know the price of the treatment system is off putting, but it is well worth it and I do not have to lug water to my car then from my car to my condo. The machine does make a hummimg noise when it is in operation, and a louder sound when the water is dispensed, but it takes less than ten minutes to process a half a gallon of water. I consider this an investment which will "pay for itself" since I no longer have to buy water from the local Vons/Ralphs.

Update: I bought the replacement filter, just in case, and it says on the box that it will last for 365 gallons. I don't know if I drink a gallon of water a day, but $40 per year for a filter is okay by me.

Update 2 (11/17/06): I have read "Snappy's" review and I find several things in the review to be just incredible:
1. "The unit itself is quite large and dwarfed everything else in my kitchen." The unit is a little bigger than a coffee maker. Much smaller than my refrigerator which is also in my kitchen.

2. "However the water made my tongue tingle and I developed a headache and a rash on my chest the very next day!" First of all, in Snappy's profile, he lives in Chicago, and I have family in Chicago, and the water from the tap tastes great. If I lived in Chicago I would not need the treatment system. Second, headache and rash on chest. I have been drinking the processed water since August and I have not had a single headache or a rash which could be attributed to the treatment system. In fact I have had no rashes ever.

I wouldn't be writing a reply if I didn't love the product. I have reviewed other things on Amazon, and have given good reviews and bad ones as well. Look at Snappy's reviews. You be the judge.

Without sending the water to a lab, I don't know how anybody could tell if the water is actually being purified. However the machine is easy to use and after about a month of using it, I have had no problems. It does make a little noise when running, but it only takes a couple of minutes per batch. It takes some counter space, a little more than the average coffee maker I would say. In my opinion the water does taste better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mine released OZONE into the air., April 14, 2010
I bought elsewhere. Water did taste better BUT I have asthma. My asthma got worse & I could smell ozone when I ran the machine. I got an ozone test kit & put test strip about foot from the top of the machine; test from the IAACM-[...]. Test confirmed unsafe ozone levels. Later I saw Consumer Reports explain their test results of ozone being released was the reason it was listed as unsafe/ do not buy. I stopped using the Lotus water treatment & my asthma is much better. I was very upset b/c it has the water quality association gold seal, passed both NSF 42/ 53 tests, & filter lasts 300 gal. BUT IT DOES RELEASE OZONE so don't buy it if you value your lungs! Even if my unit was defective,it is too much of a hassle to keep getting ozone test kits to check if a unit is o.k. Look at Consumer Report user reviews, etc. to see others have ozone issues too. There is a pitcher purifier but filter ($8 ea) last only 40 gallons, so lots of filters in the trash. Reverse osmosis can waste water & takes lots of under counter/ sink space. Still looking for a water PURIFIER not a water filter system that I can manage myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars This product makes me want to jump for joy., April 24, 2007
I first saw the Lotus water treatment system on "The Big Idea" one night and thought, I have to try this. I am very health conscious and drinking the absolute best water is paramount to me, my family and pet. I considered whole house systems which would have me paying for the house and the filtration system years later:) Sink undermounts were just not feasible for me as there is just no space under my sink and they can cost an arm and leg also. The faucet attachments I've had and are junk.

Well, after doing my research on the product, I was still convinced this was the answer for the truly healthy water that I was looking for. Well, as it turns out, it is! The water tastes just as good if not better than the "Hollywood" water on the market that costs approx. $2.00 for 16 oz and has been purified twenty times. And frankly, most of them don't claim to be any better than tap water! When I want exceptional water, I fill up my carafe, and in a few minutes I have healthy, great tasting water that tastes and even smells great!

I like to enjoy Kona coffee and we all know how expensive Kona coffee is. It was a waste buying the coffee before. Now, my coffee has never tasted so good! Not to mention teas! The taste really jumps out at you when using the Lotus water. I even cook with the water. My next purchase will be the food/surface sanitizer by Lotus.

As someone who is concerned about the excess in our landfills and its impact on our fragile environment, it makes me feel good to know that I am not contributing to the tonnes of plastic bottles in our landfills, and that I'm saving myself scores of cash in the long run. I read that the Lotus received the Invention of the Year award from Time magazine and I say look for more awards in the future.

My favorite thing about this machine is the convenience of having such high quality water at my fingertips. As an active person always on the go, I simply fill up my one liter polycarbonate sports bottle and I'm off to the gym, or it's just handy when I'm in the car or around the house. I drink more water as a result and feel terrific.

Thanks Lotus, I look forward to many years of healthy, clean water which is free of bacteria/viruses, and contaminants, but does not compromise the natural minerals present in the best water.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Water Ionizer, January 5, 2007
This water treatment system is the BEST!!! It's tabletop convenient and takes up very little space. Only 6 minutes to oxygenated PURE water - obviously energy efficient. Fantastic taste and we can use it in our RV when we go on the road. We used to distill all our water - now we only use our LOTUS. We recommend this product to everyone who wants a great water treatment system. Worth every penny.

This review is from: Tersano lotus LWT100 Water Treatment System (Tools & Home Improvement)
I live in Louisiana in a town where our water smells like a swimming pool. I have been buying bottled water costing me approximately $8.00 per week. I'm trying to budget so I added that up and was shocked to see that I was spending around $420.00 per year on bottled water. I had been wanting to buy this system for a while and that was the realization that made me do it. This system is not cheap but it will pay for itself quickly if you buy and drink as much water as we do. I've used it for a few days now and the water is fabulous. There is no swimming pool smell to it and it taste better than the bottled water that I had been buying. Also I'm not adding to the waste in my local landfill by throwing away all of those bottles. I would recommend everyone that is buying bottled water on a weekly basis to buy this system it will save you money and your water will probably taste much better than the water you have been buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing water treatment system, May 8, 2008
This review is from: Tersano lotus LWT100 Water Treatment System (Tools & Home Improvement)
This system is designed around the concept that ozone, used in a few high end water treatment municipal systems, degrades pollutants. The system works perfectly and is far superior to the faucet type system used by most consumers. I highly recommend it to anyone who is concerned about hidden organic pollutants in their drinking water. This is the only system that addresses these hidden chemicals and pharmaceuticals in our municipal water supplies. The order was delivered the following day after the order was placed.

5.0 out of 5 stars no more bottled water!, February 13, 2008
This review is from: Tersano lotus LWT100 Water Treatment System (Tools & Home Improvement)
I Love my Lotus Water Treatment system. My entire family loves the taste of our water now that we Lotus it! We have been able to stop buying bottled water, which helps our environment, and we all love the ease of use and the taste of the purified water. I have given the system to my mother, and mother in law, which were both drinking nothing but bottled water due to the taste of the water in their communities. The cost saving from not buying the bottled water has been great! When I first got my unit and called the company for help they were wonderful! The customer service was outstanding. I would recommend this unit to everyone!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Product, March 26, 2011
This review is from: Tersano lotus LWT100 Water Treatment System (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased the Tersano drinking unit a few years back. The first issue I had was that it was not working properly[unit would not dispense water] after 1 year and the company replaced the caraff. This issue happened again and they replaced the base part. The main issue was that the main unit would leak water and not work properly. The unit worked well for 1 year but fell apart after that. When I called customer service, they mentioned that I had to purchase a new unit. I did that and I had the same leaking issue from the base of the unit [there would be a puddle of water] and it would not dispense water from the base into the caraff.
Love the idea but do not believe in their quality since they moved their manufacturing of the product to China. If you buy this product it will work for a while but will stop wortking after a period of time. I would not recommend it to my family or anyone else fro that matter. Not a good investment.

I love this product! This machine produces terrific tasting pure clean water for my family. We hate to pollute the environment by consuming cases and cases of bottled water. This water is MUCH better than the bottled water anyway. It fits in my corner appliance garage so that it doesn't take up counter space. The company is awesome and stands behind it's products. I highly recommend this machine.
