TESLA IS STILL ONE OF THE PREMIER ROCK BANDS OF THIS GENERATION."COMIN' ATCHA LIVE 2008" IS A TRUE TESTAMENT OF WHAT ROCK & ROLL IS MEANT TO BE.A FRIEND BOUGHT ME THIS DVD THROUGH AMAZON AS A GIFT, & I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY HOW GOOD THEY STILL SOUND. I WAS A BIG FAN THROUGH THE 80'S & THEY STILL HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO ROCK HARD! NOT ONLY IS THE CONCERT GREAT COMING IN AT JUST OVER 2 HOURS, BUT THERE IS A BONUS HOUR OF EXTRAS. ONE OF THE BEST MOMENTS ON THIS DVD IS THE OUTTAKES, THE GUYS DOIN' A BLUES JAM BACK STAGE...REMINDED ME OF SOMTHIN'JIMI HENDRIX WOULD DO...ENOUGH SAID, 5 STARS!!!

Very long show, many songs, has to be over 2 hours worth. Jeff was spot on with the vocals, Frank was amazing as was the rest of the band of course. It's hard to believe they can still rock this hard after over 20 years. Finally we get an electric DVD!! Their new song is awesome (Dear Private Ledbetter). Can't wait for this to come out, there were at least 6 cameras so if the sound quality is good which im sure it will be, youre gonna be looking at a Tesla masterpiece!

This review is from: Tesla: Comin' Atcha Live! 2008 (DVD)
This is LOUD! Without a doubt this is my favorite rock DVD. The set list is amazing with a great mix from everything including, "Into the Now".The guys never sounded better.Great intro by Frank for "Modern Day Cowboy". Unbelivable find in Dave Rude! Great guitar work.Jeff's vocals were on. Amazing camara work and the bonus features are great. Can't wait for the new CD this fall. Thanks to a new radio station in Atlanta,GA, "100.5" and a pure R&R DJ (Axel), who rates TESLA as his favorite band, we TESLA fans, will hear the past and present of these guys. Thank God. Please tour ATLANTA!

Tesla- Comin Atcha Live- Finally!,

This review is from: Tesla: Comin' Atcha Live! 2008 (DVD)
Some things are worth the wait. Such is the case with newly released live dvd from seminal rockers Tesla. As the first live dvd in 17 years and the first ever "plugged in" dvd from the band this release perfectly highlights what 25 years and 12 releases means- Tesla is committed to bringing the show to an entirely new level.
Now managing themselves, the band has put together a riveting and true to reality production of what an authentic Tesla show is all about- pure energy, stripped down rock and roll. Filled with over two hours of live music, an hour of special behind-the-scenes footage and never-before-seen material, including footage of TESLA interacting with fans, giving viewers a personal tour of Seattle, and an up-close look at their touring equipment and guitars, the Comin' Atcha Live! DVD manages to accomplish making a tried and true fan feel like they are at a show they missed and anyone who is new to the band, wonder where they have been all of their lives. The DVD was filmed at the Myth Nightclub in Maplewood, Minnesota on February 22. At the sold-out show, TESLA brought out all of the famed classics such as "What You Give," "Signs," "Modern Day Cowboy," "Love Song" and "Little Suzi" and the world premiere of "Dear Pvt. Ledbetter," from the forthcoming new cd, "Forever More". Highlights include Dave Rude, the newest member to the band, more than capably filling the gap left by the departure of Tommy Skeoch, and giving the band renewed vigor and the underrated but remarkable Troy Luccketta on drums. Jeff Keith (vocals), Frank Hannon (guitars), Brian Wheat (bass) are all on top of their game making this release a must have and gets any true head banger's appetite whet for the "Forever More" cd, tour and the next show. If this DVD only touches the real thing? Go to stubhub now and try for the front row.

The 4 stars are for the band who deserve 5. These guys rock.
The missing star if for whoever encoded the audio and ripped off the consumers. It is advertised as Dolby Digital 5.1, but the only audio channel on the DVD is Dolby 2.0.

finally,
This review is from: Tesla: Comin' Atcha Live! 2008 (DVD)
After 25 years, 12 albums, over 2,500 shows, over 16 million albums sold worldwide, Tesla is stronger than ever.
Continuing on that momentum, Tesla--Jeff Keith (vocals), Frank Hannon (guitars), Brian Wheat (bass), Troy Luccketta (drums) and Dave Rude (guitar)will release their third DVD, Comin' Atcha Live! 2008, on June 24 on the band's Tesla Electric Company Recordings label (in partnership with Ryko Distribution). "This DVD marks a new era creatively for Tesla because we put it all together ourselves, capturing the band's concert and life on the road," says lead guitarist Frank Hannon. "Nowadays, we are more involved in every aspect of our music career than ever before. We are very excited about the creative results and it really shows in the new DVD." It's Tesla's first DVD in 17 years (since 1991's Five Man Video Band) and is filled with over two hours of live music, over an hour of special behind-the-scenes footage and never-before-seen material, including footage of Tesla interacting with fans, giving viewers a personal tour of Seattle, and an up-close look at their touring equipment and guitars. Comin' Atcha Live! 2008 also marks the world premiere of "Dear Pvt. Ledbetter," a new song written in honor of the troops from the band's forthcoming album, which is currently being recorded at bassist Brian Wheat's studio, J Street Recorders with producer Terry Thomas (who was behind the boards on the band's 1994 Bust A Nut album) and will be released this September. More details to be announced in the coming weeks. The DVD was filmed at the Myth Nightclub in Maplewood, Minnesota on February 22. At the sold-out show, Tesla treated fans to numerous classics such as "What You Give," "Signs," "Modern Day Cowboy," "Love Song" and "Little Suzi." Tesla has been non-stop touring all around the world the past 12 months in support of their two-disc critically acclaimed Real To Reel covers album. After taking their current hiatus from the road to record the new album of all original material, they're getting right back out on the concert trail. Their 2008 worldwide tour starts June 6 in Solvesborg, Sweden at the Sweden Rock Festival. After the European dates conclude on June 27, they'll start a U.S. trek on July 12, lasting throughout the summer and well into the fall. Their summer trek includes a stop in Pryor, OK on July 13 as part of Rocklahoma.

I Went Back in a Time Machine!,
By
This review is from: Tesla: Comin' Atcha Live! 2008 (DVD)
I don't know if I can say anything great enough about this DVD that hasn't already been said. All I know is that I was blown away!
I saw Tesla back in 1987 when they opened up for Def Leppard's "Hysteria" tour. When I watched this DVD, I felt like I went right back to that night & was right there playing air guitar, singing along with my friends, & sweating underneath all that long hair I had...lol, (that was before I was supposed to "grow up" & "look" responsible!). EVERY song they play is dead on & just like I remember them when I was lucky enough to see them in "87". I was just as impressed by them, if not more, on this DVD as I was when they opened for D.L. Back in the "80's", the opening band was just as impressive or better than the headliner on many occasions, but being a headliner all depended on how many records you sold. Don't get me wrong, D.L. was great, but in my opinion, Tesla was, & still is, very underrated! They are an excellent rock & roll band that has stayed just as tight as they were back in the beginning. One of the many things, (there are too many to mention), that I love about this DVD is right before they play "Song & Emotion". They let you know that they wrote & dedicated the song to Stephen Maynard Clark, (R.I.P., 1960 - 1991), former guitarist for Def Leppard that passed away to a tragic overdose. I think that is impressive & classy. Gone but not forgotten... Well, anyhow, if you're an old "80's" rocker like me, or you are young & want to see what REAL music should sound like, GET THIS! You WON'T be disappointed! It's an excellent Rock/Metal concert experience! This MUST be added to your concert DVD collection & should always be played LOUD! For me personally, I Went Back in a Time Machine! Ahhhh, the memories... Always remember, in the words of Albert Schweitzer, "There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: Music & Cats". So true! Keep Rockin' & Horn's Up! \m/ |
