4.0 out of 5 stars Nicely condensed version of Tesla's invention
This 34 page "pamphlet" does an good job of an overview of Tesla and his ideas. It shows the progression of his ideas and also helps the reader to better understand and debunk all the junk science now being espoused concerning Tesla's theories and inventions.

Having studied Tesla a great deal and always being excited about finding new information I was highly disappointed by what I received.

It was not a book but 15 sheets of paper printed, folded and stapled in the middle to comprise a 30+ page pamphlet that lacked in detail, substance and anything that cannot be easily reviewed over the internet.

The information was not about any "lost" inventions but skimmed the surface of some of Tesla's more notable patents and gave some inaccurate descriptions of their function.

This booklet contains less information than my college essay on the subject of Tesla (aside from the tiny patent photos) and in comparison to other literature about Tesla, is limited.

This booklet would be good for a small child who is interested in skimming information about Tesla, without really digging in or learning anything below the surface. For those that want more detailed information I was able to purchase The Fantastic Inventions of Nikola Tesla ISBN 978-0-932813-19-0 for around $9 on Amazon and it contains over 300 pages of data and Tesla's own hand also.

Don't waste your time or money on this "book" - it's nothing more than a photocopied pamphlet stapled together, and the information is poorly organized and written.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new here, December 26, 2005

In reading this, I found it to be a rehash of information freely available on the Internet. I had hoped for more.

It feels like I paid to have someone gather and print it out for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars very old patents - can be interesting, November 9, 2006

the book is an interesting collection - perhaps more valuable for evaluating spoof patents - and arcane ideas than for building any of these devices. there is probably a reason most of this has not been published. The book succeeds in vividly portraying the era after the civil war - post-modern science - and the ideas the permiated culture.

Anyone reading this is bound to have a great appreciation for Tesla - and a better understanding of the times he lived in.

2.0 out of 5 stars Where's the rest of it?, January 8, 2012

I guess I was expecting a work with a little more substance. 9 pieces of 8.5"x14" paper stock folded in half and stapled into what can only be regarded as a pamphlet, was less voluminous than a "15 minute" car insurance policy quote. Though it is reported that these inventions were suppressed by the U.S. Government, it is important to note that all of which have been in the public domain for at least 50 years. I can honestly say that I learned nothing new from reviewing this text, which by the way, I was able to absorb in one trip to the lavatory. Not worth the $7.75 I was duped into paying. Perhaps I can find some 12 year old electronics nerd to pass it on to as they may have not been exposed to the material, though it seems unlikely to find such a rare specimen in this connected world.

Very good booklet. Primes the reader for further reading and research into Tesla's inventions. Well worth the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tesla's lost inventions, January 7, 2012

I am looking for a book that describes and explains how Tesla inventions work. This book doesn't has been useful.
It is a cheap book but it isn't a book about the story of Tesla inventions and it isn't a technical book. It is like a brochure. In my opinion it is useless. If you are interested in Tesla work a better book is for example: "Harnessing the wheelwork of nature: Tesla Science of energy" by T. Valone. Good luck

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally satisfied, September 30, 2011
This review is from: Tesla : The Lost Inventions (Paperback)
I've read many standard popular books on Tesla and consider this booklet one that will share valuable space on my bookshelf.
This book deals specifically with his lesser known inventions. Ones that are not mentioned in the more mainstream publications. They mostly deal with Tesla's big ticket items. His "Tower", Niagara Falls hydroelectric power station, AC current, etc.
I was able to build a spark gap generator from the plan presented in this book. I have obtained some beautiful miniature lightening bolts that impress my friends.
Tesla's interests extends from electric engines to radio transmission to lighting (think CFLs)to transport (ground and flying machines).
The booklet has references to companies or organizations that are continuing work and studies in the various areas Tesla worked in. Some things could not be built in Tesla's time because of the state of the art of building the equipment needed. See Plasma Lamps at Google Images.
They say Tesla was ahead of his time. Perhaps the 21st. century is his time.
