Product Description

The Tesoro Cibola metal detector is designed for the treasure hunter that does not want to bother with too many controls. It is named after one of the fabled seven cities of gold that the conquistadors were searching after and will simplify the search for any treasures to be found.

The Tesoro Cibola's main search mode is an ED 180 Silent Search discriminate. A threshold-based All Metal is accessed by the Push Button Pinpoint mode. The ease of use for the Tesoro Cibola makes it the perfect metal detector for both the metal detecting novice as well as the treasure hunter that has been around for a while.

Excellent for beach detecting in South Florida. Along with two weeks of coin shooting at the the county parks the detector should pay for itself in no time.

I did a lot of research before perchesing a detector. I finaly went to a friend who has been doing this since late 1970s. He has been through a lot of different brands and I finaly asked him what he thought was the most durable able reliable for a good price that's not junk. He said a garret or a Tesoro , he said I owned this one. And has had it for 7 yrs and has impressed him compaired to all the others for the price and the depth reading and how clear it is. So I wen and paid for this one. Within the first week it has paid for itself and has impressed the heck out of me!! It very durable and clear. Now the argument of the same tone for everything is not nessasarly true. As a musician I can tell the difference just like a guitar each note is a different tone. It's one of those machines that u get to know and it gets to know you. Iv dug small bbs 2feet down clear as day. And the pitch and tone for each metal is different from high pop long drags high pitches low pitches pin pint helps tell depth also. Very great machine for a beginner to learn the different tones and figuring what u want in a machine. And if you want to upgrade , you have a great back up for company or for ur kid has lifetime warrenty. All in all great machine both me and my buddy who's owned his for 7yrs mine for 5montjs and paid for machine 10x over already. Very reliable and sturdy .

As you can see I am a verified purchaser, I got Cibola from Amazon.
First about why Cibola. Tons of good reviews, many comments, youtube video on how good it is. So I pulled the plug and got it. I knew exactly what I was expecting and I was familiar with Cibola features before buying. And here is what I found:

Pros: very good discriminator, very good recovery speed, exceptional ability to detect good targets masked by iron. These are the things I was looking for, I they are there.

Cons: now the bad part. All those pros are good only if you hit the target, and that is where the problem starts. I did test without ground, just on table, and I did not get anything close to what other people report. Others claim 12 inch depth on some coins, and videos show how easy it get to 10'' on almost anything except maybe smallest targets. I got 6'' the most on US 25c. Super Tuning makes detector very unstable and firing tons of false signals. Let me assure you I tried it in different places, without close metal presence or strong source of radio signals. Nothing, it gets calm only when pushed back on controls, and at those settings distance on coins is 5-6'' in the air at max. It means practical depth in the ground will be 3-4 inch if lucky. Well, it is not what I expected. Sent it back to amazon. Maybe will do another try, later.

The Tesoro Cibola is an excellent device for the money and will serve the serious and amateur treasure hunter well, however, I do not understand why Amazon says it retails for $425 and they are knocking off $85 to give us an $85 saving. The regular price in all but the rip off shops is normally $340. Still, even without true savings (though a real sale price would be nice), Amazon is selling it for the same regular price as most places. The Tesoro Cibola is a darn good metal detector and Amazon is a darn good seller, so I can safely buy from them and know I am getting qualityTesoro Cibola Metal Detector.
