By marrying arcade controls with real cars, upgradeable car systems, and multiple play modes, Test Drive 6 attempts to be the driving game for everyone. The result is a fragmented, ordinary game lacking the focus to be suited for a particular type of gaming audience.

The game purports to offer the thrill of driving a selection of testosterone-charged real cars in some of the world's most scenic locations. But instead of hitting top speed on the open road or doing doughnuts on the Vatican's lawn, you must race a bunch of veteran professional drivers around a number of preset tracks with hairpin turns. Even that could be fun, but here the tracks are missing the shortcuts and power-ups of an arcade racing game, and the cars are missing the accurate physics and customization of a simulation racing game. This "neither here nor there" approach applies to all of Test Drive 6, a game that on the surface is packed with features, most of which, on digging deeper, add nothing to gameplay.

Play modes include single and groups of races where you wager money or your pink slip; cop chases where you try to pull over speeding cars; and two-player mode. The economic system by which players purchase and upgrade cars seems out of place, and the game's graphics are merely passable. --Jeff Young

• Nice collection of new and classic hot rods

Cons:

• Too shallow for a racing simulation, too difficult to be an arcade game
• Poor handling cars and poorly designed tracks

Test Drive 6 gives you the opportunity to own and race high-performance sports cars without investing millions of dollars. The 40 licensed vehicles include modern and classic cars like a '69 Dodge Charger, the '99 Dodge Viper GTS, the '99 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Coupe, and the '99 Toyota GT-One. Once you have chosen your vehicle you can race on 34 tracks in locales like Jordan, Switzerland, Maui, and Italy. Many of the single-player modes from the past games Single Race, Time Trial, and Cup Race have returned, along with the new Cop Chase. You are a police officer and must issue citations to traffic violators within a time limit. There are a number of two-player options available as well including Cop Chase, Single Race, and Quad Race. Keep you money in your pocket and race expensive cars in Test Drive 6.

OHH MY GOODNESS this is by far the best game I have ever played. With possibly the best graphics for any dreamcast game and definetly the most the fun. This game is a must for anybody who loves racing games or doesn't. The best feature has to be the "all unit al's" the active police force that try's to bring you down for your wild driving antics. With some of the most breathtakingly realistic courses and cars this game is the besat sega has to offer. I have playaed Segas other racing games and this is by far better than any of them. Buy It!

Test Drive graphics are ok but even after hitting the wall 100 times your car still looks shiny and new.The sound is great with very catchy music.The levels could be alot better designed and it looks a bit dense and shallow.Test Drive 6 has a pretty good car selection of hot rods but you should be able to modify your cars a bit more.The cop chase mode is pretty cool but you should be able to pick more police cars.The control is horrible and handling a Dodge Viper seems like a chore.After playing this a game a few times the fun just went dead.There should be more modes and I don't know if Test Drive 6 is a poor simulation racing game or a poor arcade racing game.If you want an arcade racing game buy Speed Devils or if you want a racing simulation game buy Tokyo Extreme Racer or wait for Sega Gt.I would not even recommend a rent ,trust me don't waist your time

When I first bought this, i thought it was going to be a really good game because of the licineced cars and everything but when i bought it, i soon realized that this was a total wate of money! The graphics are N64 style and it has no real car physics , horrible soundtrack. This game is just a total waste of money!
