How to take a test, Part I,
This review is from: Test-Taking Strategies (Study Smart Series): winner, HomeStudy Book of 2007 (Paperback)
Ok, one day in elementary school you had your first test. It was only a few questions and the material was easy; but what do you do? Now, I know that the teacher mentioned she wanted you to study the material--but how?
You evolve, and are now a High School student. You have learned that studying is just re-reading the material and doing a few random questions in the chapter reviews. You are doing ok; you have very few complaints about your grades. Ok, maybe one or two. Now, do you drive across states before taking the class? No. Do you program computers before learning how to type? No. However, you study for a test before you understand what studying really is---How crazy! Test Taking Strategies was designed to help students study effectively by teaching them how to study properly and effectively in any time frame. This short, compact, and easy-to-read book will help any and every student learn to study correctly and shave hours off thier study time. I used this book as I was studying for my Network+ certification; at this point, I now have my certification and I am glad I purchased this book (for me, an earlier edition was only $10). This book taught me study techniques as well as test-taking strategies. I was impressed with the simplicity and brevity of the material in the book. Not just a "before you take this test" handout; Test Taking Strategies is a comprehensive manual that will show you how to study. IMHO, this book is worth triple the price easily! Marty A. i am amazed how great this book is. it does really give you good tips and the structures of the book are very organinzed. The person rating this book as 1 star because he/she might already have the knowlege that the book offers so he/she found nothing new or interesting. For people who are looking to polish up their test taking skills some more or looking for new tips, this book is very helpful and have everything. I strongly recommend it, it's only $6 but for the knowlege that you gain, well worth it. Hope this helps.
I also bought the mastering multiple choice by stephen merrit ($16) and it can't even compare to this book.

This book is so full of great ideas, and so easy to use, it helped (1) one son win a scholarship to MIT, (2) another son win scholarships to the University of Wisconsin and (3) a daughter-in-law become one of California's "10 best scholars of 1999" and become Phi Beta Kappa.

this was the most useless book i have ever picked up. so useless that i'm not even going to return it or give it away because i don't want anyone else to have it. It was soooooo general, sooo broad, anyone could have written it, i can't believe they even let this book be published. I usually keep all the books i buy, but this one is going straight into the trash can. I didn't learn anything from it, the sections were small and hardly covered anything.I was better off getting one of those mini books they have on the stands, that make you waste two dollars but at least you have a pretty little book to display, at least one of it purposes can count as an ORNAMENT! "just use your judgment" was the redundant phrase thoughout the whole book, YES! i know i can use my judgement but i wanted something more concrete than that. Please save yourself six dollars, go get yourself three mini books or something but DO NOT get this book.
