a marriage on the rocks,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Test Of Time (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
A Test of Time, is the follow-up novel, to Chery Faye's winner, A Time For Us. I highly suggest that you read, A Time For Us, first. You will be able to understand herione, Nicole Peterson's insecurities. Mark Peterson is a successful, attractive man who loves his wife. Due to a series of misunderstandings, this beautiful, ambitious couple fight, seperate and eventually reconcile their differences. At times, the reader becomes dismayed and impatient with Mark and Nicole, however Faye keeps you abreast of their thoughts and feelings toward each other throughout the novel. This is a must-read, because the author tackles the reality of a marriage that could be headed for divorce.

A Fantastic Follow-up To "A Time For Us",

Cheryl, you did an outstanding job illustrating what married couples are often faced with, its not always a bed of roses. In this particular story, issues of insecurities and lack of understanding was facing this couple. It may seem to some readers as an over-kill as it was put in a review, but most of us who are married or been married understand the dynamics that come with being married. In this story and even in the real-world problems like this cannot always be fixed overnight. It's like the story in the bible about JOB, he definitely went through quite a bit and it was not resolved overnight, as he learned what patience was all about. So readers, when you read this story keep in mind whatever excess issues you bring into a marriage that is not resolved has a great potential to get out of hand. Thank you Cheryl for revisiting this couple after the wedding to let us all see an illustration of the road married couples often have to travel. As for this story, it was definitely a test, but love did conquer all.

A Love that Will Stand The Test of Time,
By
This review is from: A Test Of Time (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
A Test of Time is the Second Installment in the lives of Mark and Nicole Peterson. We first meet them in A Time For Us. Mark is the owner of a prestigious real estate firm. Nicole is an excellent Administrative Secretary working for his company. Mark is smitten by Nicole's good looks and later her wit and her charm. A Test of Time starts where A Time for Us leaves off. The resort they built is opening and the architect Ms. Ashlei Brown was there. We learned that Ashlei wanted Mark the moment she laid eyes on her. Mark didn't want her though. There is a lot of things going on in this story. I first read A Time For Us and liked it very much. Nicole's intuition about Ms. Ashlei Brown was right on the money. My feeling is that there are a handful of misunderstandings. This was why I was so excited about reading A Test of Time. I figured there was going to be more going on with Ms. Brown in this story and I wasn't wrong. I really don't want to reveal anything, because I think both books are worth reading. At times I got very upset with Mark and Nicole. I think what saved me from not really liking them was their daughter Tiandra. I also liked Nicole's parents and was glad Mark reconciled with his older sister. If you come across A Test of Time before A Time for Us, please find A Time of Us and read it first. It will answer alot of questions, you probably would have about the couple and their family. I have read First Love and the anthology in Mama Dear by Cheryl Faye. I must say she is a very good writer. I would like to know if Yvonne and Lucien will have their story told?

A Super Epilogue,

This review is from: A Test Of Time (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was an excellent look at what is possible when you experience love at first sight. After 'A Time For Us', Ms Faye reentered the lives of the main characters and shared how they dealt with each others personalites. I thought it was a great follow up and rare for an Author. Kudos...

WELL WORTH THE WAIT,

I was wondering is Ms. Faye had stop writing for a while. Now I know she has not. Her books may come out as quickly as others, but when they do they come out with a BANG. I found myself feeling the anquish that Mark and Nicole were putting on each. This will satisfied any reader that has read the book "A Time for Us". Ms. Faye please keep up the good work.

A test,
This review is from: A Test Of Time (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The plot was excellent and kept one in suspense to see if the couple would reconcile after all the things that they went through. I like the fact that the husband wasn't painted in a negative light; he was a very good husband who was genuinely in love with his wife, which isn't very common these days. I love the way he treated her and adored her and the fact that he was a very good father to his daughter. Neither he nor his wife were unfaithful throughout their ordeal of being separated, and that's admirable. Keep up the good work!

I thought the book was excellent, It was wonderful to read about Nicole and Mark after they got married and it should have been happily ever after. I thought the story was very true to life and it's not too often that you read a romance novel about a married couple. Take a chance on it you will not be disappointed.

TOO MUCH FLUFF....NOT ENOUGH SUBSTANCE,

This is the first book I have read by Cheryl Faye and I was left wanting. The story of Nicole and Mark had potential but the telling of the story got too bogged down in I love you, No I love you, It's my fault, No it's my fault. And Nicole cried every time the wind blew the wrong way. Even Mark was teary eyed every other bad encounter. I think Nick Latargia's character could have been expanded more. And, are we really suppose to believe that the three million dollars Nicole received was from legal sources, what type of legal work did Nick do to earn that much money? I'm not giving up on you Cheryl, but I am looking for your next book to bring me back into the fold.

After the honeymoon common sense disappears and the drama begins.,

I have not read the first book so I am not famaliar with how the characters are portrayed there. However it is good to read a story of how easy it is to break up over major misunderstandings.
Mark as a husband is a complete idiot - how can a man with business sense to make himself a multi-millionaire get himself in compromising positions 3 times and with women he knows have made a play for him? One does not ask a naked woman to get out of your hotel room, you physically toss her out. And one continues to do business with a woman who does not respect your marriage? And you grope her at a party knowing you have invited you wife to attend? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Nicola- I presume her tendency to run comes from low self esteem thinking she was not good enough for her rich husband? But after being let down by her husband three times I can more sympathise with her position. Nick-a rich drug dealer who leaves a woman 10% of his wealth ($2million) based on friendship only? They were never lovers or friends with benefits so I found that hard to believe. Maybe the Petersens 10 year age gap (wife 32, husband 42) played a factor in their initial behaviour. Mark loved but patronised his young wife and she hero worshipped him, theirs was not an equal partnership until after their breakup. Being a romance it all works out in the end and even tho in the real world people probably do behave that stupidly its hard to read it in print. There premise was good but not sure of the details of the story. |
