I must comment that this is the best Book on Egyptology and Ancient History I have ever read. Traditional Egyptologist are apparently blind to the truth before them on the Ground in Egypt and in the Holy Land. Do not be mislead by the Reviewer who labels this Dribble. It is Dribble to those fools who have PHD's that build upon the work of others without using critical thinking skills and who spit out the same now discredited dribble that they purport to be History simply to protect their own work. What has happened in the past exactly cannot be known when it happened so long ago. Hopefully though more people like David Rohl will attempt to write History that is as accurate as possible.

I also recommend strongly The Orion Mystery which of course is an Anathema to the Traditional Egyptologist.

There is a criticism of Biblical Archeology - the claim is that it does not show the Jews settled in Canaan as described in the Bible. The problem is mainly in the dating for the famous Judges and Kings of Israel/Judea and for the known Pharoahs. The book is an amazing trove of new information about the problems, how they arose, the strength of the arguments, and how they can all be explained. Modern people tend to believe the Bible is myth, and there may be myth there, but the core stories have a positive background in reality, as this book undertakes to explain. The book considers and argues the case for the actual time-line of events, how the latest evidence argues for the correctness of the Biblical accounts, at least historically, and shows the lay person how confusion in names can occur when kings have many names, including nicknames and foreign versions. Highlights include how modern astronomy is used in dating ancient events, the importance of King lists and synchronicity, the large numbers of Pharoahs whose names are still not known, the true names of Kings Saul, David and Solomon, the royal correspondence between Saul and Ahkenaton (who are not thought to have lived in the same time). These letters exist, in stone tablets, found in Amarna. It is amazing how the Biblical accounts in Genesis through Kings and Chronicals are consistent with all archeological results. I sound like a biblical scholar to my friends from reading this book! From Eden to Exile: The Five-Thousand-Year History of the People of the Bible

I know that his views are controversial but his research is thorough and believable. I for one am inclined to believe the new chronology. It is good to have an open mind so that we may hope to learn. I want THE TRUTH if we can find it. Holding to any idea without looking at new opinions is not a scholarly attitude.

Finally, after 59 years of my personal headscratching since Velikovsky turned me on to questioning the Experts, a time-line that makes sense, that integrates both the written material and the archaeological findings.
