This book is like those books you see at the checkout in a store. A low quality book intended for impulse buying. If they had it in the back of a bookstore very few people would buy it once they gave it a second look.

According to this book a highly intelligent German Shepard I once owned was rather stupid. According to this book a dog I once owned that was exceptionally stupid (and I'm being kind there) was rather smart. The book is full of vague generalized statements that make it rather difficult to put a dog in one category or another.

Sometimes a smart dog just does not fall into one neat category. Another dog I once owned that if I judged her by this book I would have to say she was stupid. When I would let her in my house she would quietly want attention from me and then lay down and go to sleep. Nothing could disturb her. When she wanted back outside she would come up to me and gently nip the sleeve of my shirt while looking up at me with those soulful eyes of hers. I would say to her "Do you want out?" She would wag her tail and head for the door. That does not sound like a dumb dog to me.

The book does not take into consideration certain personality traits of dogs such as being stubborn. Some of the smartest most loyal dogs I have owned were exceptionally stubborn and determined to do thingd their own way and in their own time.

Please do not judge your dog by this book. I'm glad it was rather inexpensive because in my opinion it was a waste of money
