This review is from: Testament: Archangels' Banquet & Shepherds' Delight (Audio CD)
The majority of pieces on this two-disc set are pleasing to the ear, with most played in period style on period instruments with much finesse. However, there are a number of pieces that venture into modern musical idioms which I found jarring, irritating, and incongruent with the overall set of works. Some people may not be bothered by that. But my own feeling is that a CD of renaissance music should contain nothing but renaissance music and that forays into fusion explorations should be put on a CD of their own. It just doesn't mix well. Some may agree with me, others may not. In either case, you are forewarned. This is not a set for purists.
