5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Charles, Charlesworth, Becker et al., January 29, 2002
This review is from: The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs: A Commentary (Studia in Veteris Testamenti Pseudepigrapha) (Hardcover)
No Commentary reaches this level of comprehension.
Reason A: All other editions have a worse text
(Kee in Charlesworth uses the old-fashioned Charles-Text, Becker in the german JSHRZ a home-made one, Otzen in the Danish Commentary the b-Text of de Jonge)
Only this one stands on the solid editio maior, which alone can be called the state of the art today
Reason B: No confusing literacy critisism, but a well structured reading of the text as it is. Christian Interpolations can be found as well, but are also part of the interpretation. No hypthetical "Grundschrift" ist presented, but the Testaments as we have it in their "oldest tracable stage of text"
Reason C: There is a huge amount of Jewish, Hellenistic and Christian Parallels, where the other editions only can dream of. The reader self is able to track down the lines of influence from Jewish apocalypticism down to Christian interpretation.

Conclusion: This one or nothing, if you really want to get in the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs!
