Lately, I heard a lot of talk about the mayan calendar, so this book was supposed to provide some factual support for the rumors...
HERE IS WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED 1) my teenage daughter's composition skills are better than these of Ms. Laird. Sappy, tedious and awkward writing style distinguishes this "masterwork". People are "grinning" when their friend is almost dying, everybody is "animated" agitated" or crying and sobbing at every opportunity... Wooden dialogs, tedious narrative (she knocked, he answered the door, she entered, he smiled, and so on). It reads like 8-grader's scholastic effort. I cannot say that this is an elegant prose. 2) I can see that everybody wants to ride the Da Vinci Code wave, but Ms Laird fell of her surfboard after the first couple of pages. Instead of the fast-paced thriller with an outrageus but interesting theological theory it reads like a promotional materials for a new cult - the Mayan calendar year 2012 end of the word thing, using the most contorted (and incorrect) "scientific" explanations for every outlandish bit. Ms. Liard is clearly illiterate in math and physics (the explanations are always given in a mumbo-jumbo style with the excuse that the character in the book is lousy at physics or at math (Ms. Laird impersonated?). The author even believes that a tetrahedron has only three walls. I rest my case - I am a mathematician. Not only does "tetra" means "four", but is is impossible to construct a three-dimensional object out of only 3 planes (straight surfaces). Well, this is not the only impossibility in that book, I guess. 3) If I have ever worried about the year 2012, after reading this book I am going to relax and to go ahead and purchase a nice property to renovate over the next 10-15 years as this book brought me to the conclusion that the whole 2012 is just that: a load of horse manure. 4) To all of you, code believers: uhm, didn't know you can read Hebrew. Or, perhpas, that the original Old Testament was written in English. I can give you some more math formulas which if you apply to the Bible written in some exotic language will tell you which numbers to play in the Power Ball. To all of you with some common sense left, do yourself a favor and find something better to spend your money and time on. (perhaps something by Dan Brown, at least he doesn't touch what he doesn't know, like physics).

Applause! Applause! Best Book since Bible Code and DaVinci Code,
By 2BOrNot2B "JustB" (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Testari Scrolls (Hardcover)
This book has it all! From intrigue, mystery and suspense to romance and plot thrillers at every turn. The code is not only real, I have found it in the ancient text I also have used my whole life. Now I, too, am researching away and can't wait to find out not only what happens in the lives of these great characters and their story, but in the lives of the best story we know...the human race.

2012, End of the world, Maya Calender,
By Roscoe (Mo. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Testari Scrolls (Paperback)
Exciting, a new idea to match the best of the Bible conspiracies! This one is new, nothing about Mary and Jesus, but older, One We Can actually prove to ourselves! This suspense keeps it's promise and makes you think! So far, all the scientific parts I've researched are actually there! Fascinating stuff. My biggest fear is, perhaps the 2012 end of the world is just around the corner after all. This book and the secrets it shows could very well be the remainder of one that was from 10,000 B.C. If so, then the calendar tells us what will happen in five years. Wish I could read it again for the first time!

The Testari Scrolls,
This review is from: The Testari Scrolls (Hardcover)
I enjoyed this fast paced suspense-thriller, what a roller coaster! The ending was satisfying, and made me realize there was more to it than just a story. So now, equipped with notes and numbers, I am getting hooked on the codes, what a thrill of discovery! Everyone will enjoy this multi-faceted book.

Love This Book! Its Got it All!,
By 2BOrNot2B "JustB" (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Testari Scrolls (Paperback)
From Action, Drama, Suspense, Romance and Thrill at every page turn, I simply could not put it down. This book seeks to give us some amazing facts and new layers of fascinating codes found right within the same text I have been reading my whole life but also makes me want to research more into how we can change the paths and directions of where the human race might be headed. A fictional tale that has drawn me into its characters as if they were people known to me, but also extends me out into the very heart of what I believe it was written for...humanity.

2012 - less than four years away, and some claim it's the day of the Apocalypse,

2012 - less than four years away, and some claim it's the day of the Apocalypse for all of Earth. Why? "The Testari Scrolls" is a fictional look at the coming of the end times. Following a girl as she tries to do everything she can to save her own life despite the oncoming end of the world, "The Testari Scrolls" is a deftly written novel focusing on something all people fear and the fact that it seems so close. Highly recommended for community library fictions collections looking for fiction with a metaphysical twist.

Best Religious Controversy out there! The code exists, I found it!
Brown, Lincoln Baiget, and Hancock move over, you have competition! Best book I've read in years, makes me wonder how we've all missed it for so long! Super book! Thanks!

The premise of this book is at least fun and imaginative, which is why I'm giving it two stars instead of one.
You will find better prose in a high school newspaper (yes, it's that distractingly bad). Scientists that have just met each other and have the end of the world literally on their shoulders tease and giggle like junior high girls, and the dialogue is wooden and forced. The build up in the first half of the book is promising, but then the plot drags and struggles to regain any momentum as it attempts to explain the flawed logic behind its "climax." The ending feel incomplete and rushed, and it left me with a very disappointing "that's all?" feeling. I really wanted to like this book but just couldn't force myself to. I was excited about the premise and genre but it just felt too incomplete and sophomoric to reel me in. Don't waste your money unless you really have strong prior interest in this subject matter.

I expected so much more from this book. It is a paperback priced like a hardback, and the subject matter should have provided the necessary elements for a great adventure story. Unfortunately, I found the plot and storyline tired, and shallow. It was most unmemorable.
