The management of testicular tumours represents a very dramatic success story in modern medicine. Approximately 85% of metastatic non-seminomas are cured, where 20 years ago the majority of patients with metastases died of their disease. Testicular cancer is thus viewed as the model of a curable malignancy and the principles of its treatment act as a guide to improve the management of other solid tumours. The multidisciplinary approach to the management of testicular cancer is reflected in the contributors, who include surgeons, radiotherapists, medical oncologists and psychologists.
