It's been some time since I've bought a Testors product. From past experience, I know they tend to make mass-market paints and glues that are bargain priced and do the job if you aren't too picky. I was starting a equally bargain priced Revell model kit to get back into scale modeling, so I picked up this cheap paint set and some cement.

I don't know if this was just a lemon, but it utterly fails to do the job. I noticed immediately that thin coats of paint weren't opaque enough to dry a consistent tone, and soon ended up applying very thick coats. Even then, after drying the color was transparent in places and inconsistent in general. This necessitates multiple coats, and it is NOT a quick-drying product. I tried shaking them up to see if this helped; it didn't- instead it actually made them foam up which caused the consistency to degrade even further.

Shortly after buying this set, I picked up a whole sack of Tamiya color paints instead. They're way more expensive (3-4 small bottles is about the cost of this whole set) but they don't have any of these problems. Trust me, it's worth it.

On a sidenote, the included paint brushes are practically useless. This set may be good for a beginner modeler or a kid that's going to make a mess either way, but anyone else should look for something more up-scale.

Testors paints are always of excellent quality!
I found that the bottles are actually bigger than I thought.
The colors on this set are awesome to make camouflaged looks.
