I bought the new one, but when I got it the model box looked like it was opened and damaged. Also when I started to open up the bags, where the parts are, it looked like someone had already tried to open one. When I received the package in the mail it was not tampered with and still had the packaging seal on it. All pieces appear to be on their plastic branch things and intact.I'm still currently trying to put this model together. The issue I'm running into is the holes, that the little screws are suppose to go into, are to small and the screws don't want to go in. I'm only at step 4-5 and I may have to re thread the screw holes. If you like to tinker with these kinds of things, well this would be perfect for you, but if your between 12-18 and don't have access to tools (too re thread these holes) I don't recommend this model. Once I finish the model I'll put a picture up. But one quick note the product feature, advertised for this model, saying that it is complete able in 3 hours well if the model pieces fit together properly and you don't have to re thread the screw holes then maybe but for me it's going to take a lot longer than 3 hours.

If you have the time and want a multi-piece model that you have to fabricate or adjust parts on, this is the model for you. If you want to enjoy building a model with your kids, get something different. This model was a Christmas present for my 4 yr old son... I had no idea how much work it would be. I was under the impression it would be as simple as the Testor 1/24 Buick GS or the 1/24 Crown Victoria Police car that I also built at Christmas. These first two took a few minutes to build. My son liked handing me parts, putting simple pieces on, and tightening screws. But with the Charger, he has given up in helping, because it takes too long and nothing works like it should. To quote him "this model is stupid"... I could not agree more. Every piece seems to be made up of smaller pieces, which is not a problem, but the instructions are less than clear as to what exactly is what. In addition, nothing seems to fit right. early in the build for Example: The front suspension is made up of a metal bar, 2 screws, two suspension assemblies and the wheel wells. There is no instruction on whether or not you are supposed to use glue... does it turn, is it fixed? Then the screws do not fit in the screw holes. So after much frustration, I have started and quit building several times. I am not afraid of a multi piece complicated model, I am pretty competent at building them. But this model just does not seem to go together well. After several hours I am close to finished, the hardest stuff seems to be at the start. It is a good looking car, but I feel like this should be rated as an expert level model. The front suspension does not seem very durable, so I would suggest as a shelf piece instead of a toy to play with. |
