Book Description

December 1, 2006
“I’ve discussed the possibility of testosterone deficiency resulting in congestive heart failure with Dr. Gordon on several occasions. The concept is interesting and needs to be studied further.”

Steven Nozad, M.D.

Dr. Nozad is the Director of Medicine at New York Community Hospital, and Associate Professor of Medicine and Assistant Dean at New York Weill Cornell Medical College.

Testosterone has become a popular media topic lately because of either its improper use to enhance athletic performance, or because of its ability to heighten sexual feelings. There are, however, serious non-sexual health issues intimately related to deficiencies in this hormone. These problems have not been recognized or addressed by the medical community.

Testosterone deficiency affects everyone as they age. It erodes our sexuality until it's non-existent. It weakens and debilitates, robbing us of the energy and ability to enjoy our lives. It has an intimate relationship with such serious common health problems as osteoporosis, type II diabetes, depression, and congestive heart failure, to name just a few. The health of every man and woman will be significantly affected by whether they become aware of this rarely treated, widespread, disease.

"Dr. Gordon's insight and knowledge of testosterone replacement therapy has been a welcome addition to my sex therapy practice. It has enabled me to add testosterone replacement to my therapeutic armamentarium, helping to maximize my treatment successes."

Philip Garippa, L.C.S.W.

Philip Garippa is a Board Certified sex therapist, and a clinical supervisor in the Human Sexuality Program at Weill Cornell Medical College.

3.0 out of 5 stars An easy read, June 16, 2008

This review is from: Testosterone Deficiency: The Hidden Disease: A major Health Issue for Every Woman - Every Man (Paperback)
This a great basic read. It does not get into the depth that many might seek. It does make a very strong case for male testosterone replacement [TRT].

The author thinks that testosterone injections are the only method worthy of consideration. It sounds like all of his clients go to his office for injections, mostly at 3 week intervals. Many guys on TRT know that this produces [often very] poor results and this seems to be in conflict with the success stories in the book. Many feel much better injecting every week or more often; which is best done as self injections at home. Looking past that part, this is still a great read, more inspirational than practical. There is nothing addressing the problems of finding a Doctor who knows how to do TRT correctly.

The book has an unforgivable lack of an index and does not cite any research. As a resource to revisit, it is not as useful as it could be.

5.0 out of 5 stars What every patient should know, February 24, 2007

Every patient needs to know the importance of Dr. Gordon's work. It should also inspire other scientists to create studies in this area. The book is written well so it is attainable by all readers. After reading this book, people will know to check with their doctors and make sure they have been tested for testosterone levels. A low level effects so many areas. The use of it has had a positive effect on myself after only a few injections. For all those interested in improving their own health and the health of others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, April 28, 2010

This book contained the answers my husband has been trying to find for over 6 years! After reading the book, he had his testosterone levels checked and his were severly low. He started replacement therapy and has already seen improvement in less than 2 months. After being mis-diagnosed and treated for depression, insomnia and mood disorders it is a welcome relief to finally get the right diagnosis! A must read for any man that is having symptoms of depression, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, weight gain, sexual changes and has not found relief from antidepressants or other treatments!
