My male Betta (Ron Paul 2012 lol) was not fond of these flakes at first. however, he did get used to them after awhile. my pearl danios, mollies, x-ray tetras and female betta loved them from the start though... little piggies!

I have two bettas and a 10 gallon tank stocked with minnows and all of my fish really enjoy the food. My apartment-mate got a very small female betta that kept regurgitating the pellets she fed her, so we fed her Bettamin and the fish loved it. It is easy for them to eat and they particularly like the light orange bits (shrimp?). The only downsides are: if you don't know how to feed your fish properly they will get the water dirty and that they give red tints to the fish (which is annoying if you have a fish that doesn't have red hues).

The flakes are nice and small, so my betta has no trouble eating them. It is much better than pellets, which is a bit too big. My betta sometimes regurgitates up the pellets, but never this Tetra flakes. He waits at the water surface everytime I walk by. He snatches up every little flake within seconds so none actually fall to the bottom of the tank.

My staple product is Omega One Buffet Pellets, but they can be a little to big for my tiny girls sometimes. and my elephant ear enjoys a little diversity as well, so i keep this and baby bio-gold pellets on hand. Both makes a suitable occasional change of taste, and the guys really seem to like the flakes instead of pellets all the time. As long as essential, quality nutrition is there, variety is the key to a healthy, well fed fish. I have tried (and will continue to try) different brands, few have been this well received. My goldfish are usually thrilled to get the rejects anyway.
However, I bought this jar specifically for my baby hermit crabs- the hermit crab pellets I had was much to big and none of my hermits really liked it anyway. I used to crush it with some fish flakes, which they ate grudgingly; but in a rush one day I simply fed the little guys a bit of the bettamin, and boo-yah, empty food dish. Of course I have since gotten smaller hermit pellets to mix with it and now the Hermits are all doing great.

My betta doesn't actually seem to like this food. I feed him the pellets and he likes those so much better. I am sure it is fine but my fish just seems to prefer the pellets.

!!!!PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU PURCHASE!!!! It just might save your betta's life!!!

So, BettaMin Tropical Medley flakes & brine shrimp came free with the second betta I had bought, and I figured "oh nice! now I don't have to use tropical fish flakes or buy pellets". Well, let me be the first to tell you, Just because your betta "loves" them does not make it good for them. I love fast food burgers, but it's not good for me either. this crap is just that, fast food for your betta. It made my betta's extremely constipated because of how much fat is in the shrimp and how much the food swells in their little stomachs, and gave them swim bladder disorder.. (it also made an icky oily film on the top of my tank's water if I happen to have my filter off at the time of feeding) I found my beautiful pearl halfmoon laying on his side on the bottom of his tank, and I thought for sure he was dead. Luckily he was still alive, and after a 20% water change he had a bowel movement twice the size of his eye, so you can imagine how painful that must have been. They are still recovering, three days after my last feeding, and theres still a chance that he wont make it two more days until his pea treatment. I decided to look around online for the BEST betta food out there, and flakes are a joke! And then it suddenly made sense to me why the flakes came /free/ with my fish to begin with. The store doesn't use the flakes to feed their betta's because they KNOW it can kill the fish. That way you have to come back to the store to buy more fish after yours dies. Life lesson folks; Nothing is ever free.

Please do yourself and your fish a favor, do not buy this product, especially if this is your first betta rodeo.

My betta seems to have problems eating pellets unless they're really tiny. The average size sold is too big for him. I found these flakes and started feeding them, and he likes them. I still occasionally feed him a pellet or two, but I have to break it into a smaller size.

I have a picky Betta fish, he wasn't interested in this product at all. He didn't even attempt to eat any of the product.
