4.0 out of 5 stars A bit better this time around., November 4, 2007
This review is from: Tetra Karcist (Audio CD)
So after a few years of waiting for a new release, we're introduced to the new beast "Tetra Karcist" by Enthroned- but this time around with a slightly different line-up, which includes a new vocalist. I must say, I'm pretty happy with the change, especially in terms of the new vocalist. The new front-man's (I can't recall his name) vocals are, in my opinion, a lot better. They're more guttural and intense, whereas the last vocalist, as Enthroned fans probably know by now, gave a more screechy vocal performance. Not only are the vocals better, though, but the drumming has also improved (I'm not exactly sure but I believe they have a new drummer too). Actually it's some of the best drumming I've heard in awhile. The double bass drumming here is extremely fast and at times resemble the sound of a machine gun.

Aside from drumming and vocals, Enthroned has seemed to maintain their raw sound, which I personally see as a great thing. There isn't really a hint of commercialism here. They've also added a few eerie choir parts that really enhance the brutally haunting experience that is this new Enthroned album.

My only real problem with this release was some of the lyrics. The new vocalist is also the lyricist, so obviously I knew there was going to be a change in the content, but I still think some of the lyrics faltered a bit. But luckily, not all the lyrics are horrible ...some were actually quite good. So I guess it sort of balances out.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this CD to Enthroned and black metal fans. There's not too much not to like about it, actually. It's intense, has some great guitar and bass pieces, extremely fast drumming, throaty vocals, and even some added choral parts that will send some shivers down your spine. It's worth your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars sanctus satani, January 6, 2011
This review is from: Tetra Karcist (Audio CD)
this album rules. this is my first album ov the mighty enthrone but it def will not be the last! the play a mix ov black and death metal much like the bands belphegor and behemoth, 2 ov my favorite bands haha. they are incredible fast but technical as well. the drumming on this album is inhuman, and from i heard this album also features a new vocalist. his vocals are AMAZING. some ov the best i have heard, very good range. he also wrote the lyrics on this and they are thoughtful and don't just preach hail satan (which is not a bad thing at all, but look at dark funeral for example... come on dudes) the whole album is amazing from start to finish, the highlight for me would have to be the song through the cortex. errie chanting clean vocals makes it one ov the best black metal songs i have heard. if your a fan ov black metal buy this now!
