I've been buying Whisper aquarium products for a number of years and I have to tell you I couldn't be happier with them. They ARE the quietest products on the market. Put them on/in your fish tank and they run so quietly you won't even know they're there. And this power filter lives up to its name. It's super quiet and it filters the water just as it should, leaving it crystal clear (unless you have a bacteria problem and then the only cure for that is to treat your tank). I especially like the design of the bio bags. If you want to add more charcoal or some ammo chips to take care of an ammonia problem, just open them up and add them to the bag. I give this product an A+.

The Whisper 30 is dependable power filter. I use it in my 20 Gallon regular fish tank. I have 9 medium sized gold fish in it. It handles the load of cleaning well, I have to clean the filter once, and once in a while twice a week. Replacement parts are available & the motor runs cool, even under heavy load. The Whisper 30 is a durable filter & lasted where other brands have failed for me.

I have used these filters for over 25 years. Have tried others...thinking they would be quieter, but, alas, NO, they aren't.
I use the 20 Gal. filter on my 10 gallon tank to keep things more clear.
Only negatives: it is still a loud motor...even more amplified by the fact that my tank is in a display bookcase, but one gets used to the ambient sound.
It is no worse than the motors on a Cats water fountain (since they are the same motor)...and those of you who have live bearing, small fish, such as guppies...will need to use a small hole type of cover over the bottom intake...as it can suck up the newborns, as well as African Frog eggs.
All in All...it is a GOOD Filter and only got 4 stars because of noise factor....I wish they could figure out a way to dampen it down some.

Easy set up and reliable power filter. The only thing I don't like about it; little noisy. But overall very pleased with performance.

I have been using the Whisper filters for several years. I just bought 3 more of these and three more of the 20's. They work well are easy to maintain and reliable.

The motor wouldn't even turn on. It was a big disappointment, and we couldn't wait until Amazon could replace it.

I bought this because the sound of my previous filter was driving me crazy! It seemed so loud, and I wanted something quieter. This was just the ticket! It works great and is very quiet. The only thing you have to watch is the water level in the tank. Once it gets too low, the sound of the water splashing back into the tank will get louder. But, if you do regular maintenance on your tank, this should not be a problem. I would definately recommend this product.

I've had this for a week, and it does it's job well - but one of my Tetras was sucked against the side of the pipe and died.
