Product Description

Tetrax easily attaches to the air vent, it does not obstruct your range of view when driving and it's within your fingertips. Some states are forbidding from mounting any objects, as suction pads for GPS, on the windshield. The complete difference for Tetrax from suction pads may also help to avoid burglary, which can easily recognize the typical signs of the suction pad, suggesting the presence of a GPS inside a vehicle. Tetrax GEO Incorporates magnets and reinforced clips in a thermoplastic structure designed to support the majority of satellite navigators, PDA and Smartphone's currently available on the market. This practical, lightweight, low volume model allows the driver to interact with the navigator in total safety without obscuring visibility.

This is really just as awesome as it sounds! I tried a couple other clampy-vice-type vent mounts before I heard about the Tetrax XWAY, and was not satisfied with them. Part of the problem is that my car (a 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring) has vent slats that are both short and vertical, making them just about unusable with the first 2 mounts I tried -- the vice grip would hold my phone just fine, but the way my vents are set up, the mount would swing back and forth every time I'd make a turn, which got old pretty fast.

I was googling around, researching vent mounts, when I stumbled upon an article about Tetrax mounts that intrigued me, so I decided to shell out $35 and give it a shot, although I had my doubts. Here I'll address a few things I was dubious about before buying, in the hopes that it will help those of you who have the same questions.

1) The magnets are VERY strong. Your phone will not fall off! I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, which is a pretty big phone (4.8" screen), inside a fairly bulky Mophie juice pack case, and it doesn't move at all while attached to the mount. At the same time, it's not at all difficult to remove the phone. I was worried this would be an issue, as I read some other reviews here that trying to remove the phone can cause the whole thing (X-clip and all) to come out of the vent, but I have not found that to be the case. On the contrary, it slides off nice & easy if you just slide it off to the side. It feels very natural. Stick the phone on the mount when you step in the car, slide it off as you're getting out.

I use my HTC Incredible as my gps. The mount works great. I also used the Teetrax Fixed for my iPod. Works great as well.

The magnets are very strong. It comes with 3 different sizes of ring plates to mount to your device. Bigger the device, the bigger plate you should use.

When it comes to car mounts, OEMs have always had the edge. They know the form factor and can make a fortune charging you $50 or more (I'm looking at you, Samsung) for what amounts to a lump of molded plastic that you need to replace every time you purchase a new device. Worse, if you have multiple drivers for a single car, you now have a growing collection of awkward plastic blobs to manage.

This little beast seems to be the perfect solution to those problems. Now I can use a single mount and with the various "nubs" included with it, I can mount my Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy S3, and my wife's Samsung Galaxy Nexus with a single kit. The part I was worried about was if the magnet was going to be strong enough to hold it up in traffic. Looking on the bright side of things, I managed to put this to the test just the other day when my little Ford Focus was rear ended by a slow moving semi truck in a traffic jam. The car didn't suffer much damage, but it was enough of a jolt that my son and I were jerked around sharply. My phone? Locked dead in place as if nothing happened. So it got high marks from me there.

The only real "complaint" I have is with the nubs. These are designed to attach to the back of your device and are small, rounded discs. I initially thought this would annoy the crap out of me as I was holding the device, but instead, it was not being able to lay the phone down flat that made me twitch.

So this is where my "perfect setup" comes in. I paired this guy up with cheap, slim fit case for my devices (like this elago G5 Slim Fit Case for the Samsung Galaxy S3) and attached the nub to the back of that about an inch from the bottom middle of the phone.

Checked eBay, Amazon, deals sites, YouTube to see what's the best phone holder and after days and days of searching and searching, I was convinced that a bean bag/suction cup holder will meet my needs except it was bulky.
Until 2 nights ago, I came across this little baby. The first time I saw it on YouTube, I knew it was the one! Got it in 1 day shipping - mounted it to one of my cars and instantly, I was convinced that this mount is worth every penny!

I love this clip, but wanted to install it on the vent which doesn't work. The clip that attaches to the air vent doesn't hold and the phone falls to the floor. It comes with an adhesive mount for the dash that I ended up using, and it works great. My Evo has the on-off button on the top, so I just have to be careful not to push down to hard or the phone comes off. It never falls off unless I knock it by accident. All in all, I'm very happy with it, but don't get it if you only want to use it to mount on the air vent.

This has been a pretty good product. I've had it a couple moths at least and nothing has worn out or broken. I decided to put one of the metal tabs directly on my iPhone case (4s) and it has worked great. It no longer sits flat on a table but I got over that quickly. My only issue is that you have to get good at removing the device from the magnet. I have to push to the right and pull or else it pulls the entire thing off my vent. Also, its hard to clamp mine down. Almost ruined my feelings about it but since I figured out how to remove my phone from the magnet it's not that big of a deal. Overall pleased with it. I recommend it.
