4.0 out of 5 stars The Return Of The Classic Puzzles of Russia
There just have been so many games that are just so nostalgic, they keep coming back better and better. There are times where it either keeps getting better, or just keeps losing ground. That has happened with so many different classic games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and it has happened again with the most classic addictive puzzle game of all time, Tetris. Since this...

Recently when I purchased my new computer there was definitely something missing that I felt was essential; in one word, Tetris. Tetris was a game I played on my old computer quite often when I needed to unwind for a few minutes, and it never failed to entertain with its brilliant simplicity. So, if Tetris was good, an updated version with different variations and spiffy graphics should be even better, right? Well, when you're talking about Tetris Worlds, that's a big negatory.

What's wrong with this game? For starters, you have to insert the CD every time you want to play. The game doesn't copy to your hard drive. That's a lot a unnecessary trouble to go to just for a few minutes' diversion. Very inconvenient. Next, there is this bogus storyline attached to the game. Folks, this is TETRIS, it doesn't need a back story, it just IS. And don't make the mistake of starting in "Arcade" mode where every shape is that identical four-space bar. What a total waste of time that is! How many times do you have to bore yourself with that one level until you can move on? I didn't bother to find out. When you find your way to the game you know and love as "classic" Tetris, it doesn't even keep a running tally for you of how many lines you've cleared until the game is over, and to me that's always been the whole point of the game. I do admit I like the sexy voice every time you clear a line or four telling you what you've done. But there is too much folderol here, too much unnecessary production and bother. It's not worth the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lousy!, May 21, 2002
This review is from: Tetris Worlds (CD-ROM)
If you are expecting the fun and the challenge of the original Tetris, keep on looking. The only positive thing I have to say about this miserable take off on one of the best games of all time is that some of the graphics are nice. This game is so slow and boring that you'll fall asleep long before you reach the highest level. Save your money, and see if you can find a friend with "Tetris Gold."

1.0 out of 5 stars DONT BUY, November 5, 2004
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tetris Worlds (CD-ROM)
For starters I did not like this game at all. Its not anything like what the one I use to play on my old computer, which is what I was looking for. It takes forever to get to the game. Then when you play this crazy sexy voice keeps talking. I cant even let my 7 year old play this game. Its horrible. I'm on to find a regular tetris game if possible.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't always get what is described, January 3, 2005
This review is from: Tetris Worlds (CD-ROM)
Description says plainly "Platform: Win 98/Me/200/XP. When I clicked on Used and new (directly above Platform info) next page left out any mention of XP. I trusted, and got burned. It will not open on my XP computer. The CD I received is not XP compatible. I sent it back to seller, asking for XP compatible in November, and 6-8 weeks later, no CD, no refund. I just today checked the Amazon listing for XP, and exactly the same thing happened--XP is omitted from details of this second page. I do not trust this listing, and don't think I should pay for a second CD that does not specify XP.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Return Of The Classic Puzzles of Russia, March 10, 2005
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tetris Worlds (CD-ROM)
There just have been so many games that are just so nostalgic, they keep coming back better and better. There are times where it either keeps getting better, or just keeps losing ground. That has happened with so many different classic games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and it has happened again with the most classic addictive puzzle game of all time, Tetris. Since this game originated from Russia in the 80's, it has taken on the world by storm, and just keeps surprising so many different gamers of all ages. Yet, while so many just variations lose ground from Tetris, others just come out swinging.

Tetris Worlds is a collection of six different variations of Tetris that really are just amazing. There is the classic Tetris, as well other recognized, new variations of the game including Hot-Line Tetris, the learning game Learning Tetris, which is more like a basic instruction game that teaches people how to play Tetris, Fusion Tetris, Sticky Tetris, and Square Tetris. The graphics are just gorgeous and the gameplay is very simple to operate, with the push of a button on the keyboard. There are also the 2 classic modes from Tetris for all these games such as the story mode, and the arcade mode, where you have to beat the clock to try to clear as many lines as possible.

While you look at so many games that depend on out of the ordinary graphics, it is sometimes so easy to forget about classic games like Tetris. If you have played the game before, Tetris Worlds is a well worth buy for the computer. If you haven't played this puzzled legend before, it is definitely worth the try. Don't be boxed in, without trying this great, delightful game.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Tetris I've ever played, April 8, 2002

This game never looses it's challenge of origanal tetris games. You have so many different levels to play and different games styles. Yes, it's busy, but very inviting. The graphics are great, and the game play is even better. If I could, I'd rate it 10 stars out of 5!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Tetris Games, May 27, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tetris Worlds (CD-ROM)
I had to write a review because of the undeserved negative reviews of this game. I noticed that one reviewer claimed that the game does not work on Windows XP. I am playing it on Windows XP and there are no problems. Maybe this person does not have the minimum requirements to play video games on his or her system. I really love this game and enjoy throwing it in whenever I feel the need for an hour or so of mindless puzzle action. It is better than the old Tetris. If you like old drabby graphics then by all means stick to the old Tetris. If you like more vibrant colors and cool music background and sound effects then check out Tetris Worlds. I highly recommend this game to everyone of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Addictive Game!, May 27, 2008

I don't know what the other reviewers were playing because this game is just fun. I found that I couldn't stop playing it. It is highly addicting. One reviewer complained that you have to insert the disc in order top play it. But what pc game does not require you to insert the disc? I highly recommend this game to all puzzle freaks and those who loved the old Tetris. The old tetris was great. But it needed some sound and graphic upgrade and this is just what it is.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointment, June 21, 2008
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tetris Worlds (CD-ROM)
I was very disappointed in the game itself, but that is not what turned me off on it. I have to keep the CD game disc in my computer in order to play the game. That's just one more thing I have to carry when I travel.
