Bought these shoes for some lower grade summer raft guiding as part of my job. I did so partly on the strength of some good Teva sandals I have loved and worn over the years. Sadly I've been really disappointed with these. Teva built it's reputation with some well thought out and solidly constructed products that became the bench mark for out door sandals for quite some time. Now the drive for style and variety over substance (a pretty common disease these days) seems to now be afflicting the Teva brand.

So what's wrong with these shoes? Well they're not all bad so here's my critique.

    Pros:
The soles have adequate cushioning and support for rough ground and the soles seem pretty grippy on slippery algae coated boulders I,m having to cope with at the moment.

Construction and materials seems adequate so far and I would expect nothing less from Teva. Regular Teva sandals are not indestructable ( I've done a fair bit of sole re-gluing over the years and the velcro closures give up after a time with repeated use) but you'll likely search far and wide to find better.

Oh! and that cursed heel shock pad is relatively flush and not sitting proud like the last sandals I bought.( fine when standing and walking but creating uncomfortable pressure points when sitting or driving)

    Cons:
Bloody awkward to get on the feet and too easy to slip out of again. Find I actually have to sit down and struggle to get them on and end up with bruised finger tips as I try and hook them on. Then half an hour later the heel has caught on something and the damned things are coming off, just when you can least afford it.
There's actually two issues here. Firstly there's the fit. Who do Teva make these for?

Always looking for a piece of footwear that can be worn casually and can be worn at the lake (and can get wet) fishing and boating. I love these shoes.

I went on a trip to Costa Rica & these shoes turned out to be a wonderful choice!! They dry quickly, are comfortable & are great for things like whitewater rafting! The fit is true to size (I wear a 12 normally in most brands). On the other end, these shoes are okay looking at best. I doubt I'll ever wear them around the city but you know what you are getting when you buy them. I'd recommend them if you are going to be doing any water sports or beach activities that require shoes or for hot climates!

So, being a long time, very happy user of Teva's Omnium shoes, I opted for the Churnium as a replacement due to pricing and style. The shoe seems to have a solid build with the same great attention to detail and quality materials as the Omniums BUT they suffer from sizing issues. These have a very narrow design, I didn't measure but would guess that the cut of the width is about 1/2" narrower than the Omniums. I could barely squeeze my feet in (granted they're big-n-wide feet) and once I did, the toe-box was much longer than similar footwear.

I opted for replacing them with my beloved Omniuns which are higher priced, not as spiffy looking but more comfortable for big-footed man-beasts like me!

So that's three stars for the inconsistency of sizing, not the build quality.

The seller was great, fast and handled the return with speed and class.

The design of these shoes make it impossible to put them on without a struggle. My feet have high arches, and these shoes don't have a way to open up wider to slip on. I tried to put them on and ripped the top parts of both the shoes in the process.

Impossible to get this product on my feet. The over-all size is correct, but the opening to insert one's foot DOESN'T STRETCH and can't be made larger! Very disappointing for a Teva product.

Somewhat of a disappointment. Difficult to put on. No strap on the heel to assist in putting on. Should be more cushion in the heel.
