5.0 out of 5 stars A good, lightweight sandal
I chose these the Teva Hurricane 3 because I wanted a lightweight, compact sandal -- to be used, for example, as "camp shoes" when backpacking. Thus, unlike some customers who are disappointed that the Hurricane has a thin sole, etc., I was pleased that these sandals conform to what I wanted and expected. (If you want a thicker sole and more elaborate straps, don't moan...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as comfortable as describe
The new teva Hurricane 3 look the same as older models but is not as comfortable as the old models. They use less rubber and less cushion, that mean it will not absorb the shocks on impact. I really like Tevas but saving the planet will not save your feet from hitting hard on the ground.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never buying them again, May 7, 2009

This review is from: Teva Men's Hurricane 3 Outdoor Sandal (Apparel)
This is the worst pair of Tevas I have ever had. They are cheaply made and are flimsy. Over time, they get old and bendable, and then I trip. If you want a good pair of Tevas, get Terrifys.

1.0 out of 5 stars totally uncomfortable, August 25, 2009

I loved my original Tevas, but when the velcro wore out I bought a pair of these Hurricane 3's. They were horrible. I held Teva is such high esteem that I wondered what could have happened to such a good company. The soles are hard, thin, and flat and feel very unnatural when you walk in them. The front strap digs into your foot, too. I returned them and bought the Terra-Fi 2, which is actually the more common Teva sold in the stores. It is very comfortable.

If you're considering buying the Hurricane 3, make sure you try them or the Terra-Fi 2 on and walk in them in the store first. Amazon has the same average rating of 4 for both, but in my opinion the difference is night and day.

Sadly these are not as well made as the same brand/style purchased 5 years ago that I have worn out. The Hurricane 3 "current model" has a very thin sole with very little cushioning and you can feel every rock you walk on. What had made Teva's the most comfortable sandal I've ever owned has been taken away--they may look the same but they are clearly not made the same.

(If you want a thicker sole and more elaborate straps, don't moan about the Hurricanes; just read the specifications carefully and select something that fits your desires, such as the Terra-Fi.) These sandals will fit in my backpack without taking up too much room and or weighing too much. A better option, in my view, than Crocs.

Upon receipt of the Hurricanes, I wore them around town and found them to be quite comfortable. Not quite as comfortable as my Terra-Fis, but still good. I will appreciate the Hurricanes for their special purpose (backpacking), but I think I will enjoy them for general use as well. I like the simplicity and light weight of the sandal. I would definitely recommend the Hurricane 3 for those who are looking for this type of sandal.

5.0 out of 5 stars replacing teva sandals, December 18, 2007

It would have been helpful to know how the new Teva sandals compare to older versions. My new "hurricane 3's" are very comfortable and will serve me well, no doubt, but it would have been helpful to know before buying that they were lighter weight than the old Teva's I had to replace (after several years of hard wear). Making that comparison was not easy on the web. It would be good if web ads for new Teva sandals (and other footwear products) provided comparisons to older product versions that customers have come to like.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed Teva Sandal, July 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered these sandals since I love my last pair of Tevas. Great padding and no strap between my toe in my old pair. Unfortunately, this pair has annoying circle indents in the padding which I believe are supposed to massage your feet, but in reality just make them very hard on your feet. The pictures didn't do this shoe justice since if I had known that the shoe had this design I would not have bought them. Also, if the shipping wasn't more than the shoe I would return them. So, for now, I am barely wearing these shoes and next time I will make sure the look all the photos over in detail and find other sites with reviews before purchasing.

Such a disappointment from Teva.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Camping/Hiking Standard, March 13, 2011

These are lightweight, let your feet breathe when you're at camp and you boots are off, and they aren't a big hassle if they are wet. So if you need to walk through a stream or walk out into a lake or something, you can do so without worrying about stepping on something. They eaily strap to the outside of your pack. Just remember to put sunscreen on your feet BEFORE you put them on, or you will have some funny-looking sunburns. My wife also has a pair, and she likes hers, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Men's Tevas, October 2, 2010

These sandals run a bit large, but I purchased a 1/2 size smaller: I wear an 11 1/2 and ordered a size 11.

Very comfortable walking sandals.

4.0 out of 5 stars Teva Hurricane Sandals, May 7, 2010

My old Tevas still survive after about 8 years for mucking around while kayaking. Unfortunately my latest 2 versions have not lasted as long and are not constructed as well. I guess another mediocre product manufacturing shift to China.
