Gravel magnets,

This review is from: Teva Men's Universal Buckle Sandal (Apparel)
The fit and feel of these sandals is quite good, though they are rather a bit pricey. The biggest problem is the sole: it is made of very soft material criss-crossed with fine groves. The problem is that this combination is almost a gravel-spong; when I walk through fine gravel I quickly have the bottoms of the sandal covered with gravel embedded in the sole. This becomes a problem when I then wear them into the house. I also think that a steady diet of gravel will end up ripping the soles to shreds.

Soles turn to gummy mess,
By
This review is from: Teva Men's Universal Buckle Sandal (Apparel)
Great arch support and very comfortable tops. The reason for one star, however, is that after a few months of use the soles turned to the consistency of old gum. The tread is literally melted into a gooey blob. Rocks imbed themselves in the soles and it takes a long-nosed pliers to remove. (No, I haven't used any solvents or cleaners on them). My wife won't let me wear them indoors at all.
It's not hard to make a good sole -- many others have good sole technology. I just wish I could have the comfort and arch support of these sandals along with something like a Vibram sole. I won't buy Teva again.

Velcro is Dead,
By Bob God "Bob God" (Summerland) - See all my reviews

I remember when Velcro was first introduced to the public, back when Steve Teva was running raft trips out of Flagstaff.
The stuff was great for astronauts in a clean near-zero-gee environment. In the real whirled, however, eVeryThing sticks to the stuff. My last four pair of Teva sandals would still be wearable except for all the beach tar, fuzz and unidentifiable junk stuck in the hook&loop matrix. The design is great except for the velcro. Instead of replacing my latest pair of Tevas with more of the same - i.e. velcro straps - I'm going with the Chaco Z/1 with leather cinch straps this year Chaco Men's Z/1 Leather Sandals Bison

Crap Soles: Don't Buy,
This review is from: Teva Men's Universal Buckle Sandal (Apparel)
The rubber soles are so soft that after wearing them once the tread was breaking down and hundreds of small stones have become embedded. You can't wear them indoors and they'll last a month a most. Will never buy Teva again!

I have worn Tevas for years. Each pair has lasted me a decade until I wore through the sole. I bought this pair for my husband and had a friend ship them to New Zealand for us. They were his Christmas present. Less than 1 month later, one of the soles (just one) has virtually melted off. The sole is soft and coming off in chunks. Now if I want to return them, I have to sent them back to America for an exchange. I will NEVER buy tevas again.

Best sandals ever!,

I love these sandals! They are comfortable, light, sticky (non-slip), and much cooler than Keens in the high heat. The buckle is small and light but surprisingly strong. At first I thought the buckle might be a weak link, but not so, and using it prevents one from using the velcro, so that the velcro stays closed, clean, and effective.
