I bought these shoes because I was tired of my shoes wearing out in a couple months and having to go buy more. They are extremely comfortable and durable. They are great for hiking and do well on wet surfaces. I have been very pleased.

I was initially a little concerned about the break-in requirements for these shoes, as I bought them immediately ahead of a trip that was going to involve a lot of walking. I figured if they showed up and were too stiff, I'd fall back on some old shoes for the trip. As it turned out, these shoes required no break-in at all. I put them on and soon forgot I was wearing new shoes. I took them on my trip and they served me well. Very comfortable, great traction and good looking. Highly recommended.

I bought these for a hiking trip in New Mexico. They are very comfortable and work just fine. I thought a shoe instead of a boot would be a problem but not true! One of my jobs is working in a kitchen and these are great for that too. Any food just wipes right off with a damp rag. I especially like the rubberized toe for durability.

This shoe is extremely comfortable. When I first put it on, it fit right in. No need for a break-in time whatsoever. Also it looks very durable and can be used as a casual shoe. Probably the best hiking shoe that I ever own.

Was not familiar with "Teva" but am always looking for a well made light hiking shoe that can cross over to casual wear. Normally wear size 13 M. After reading the reviews determined that a size 14 would be a good bet. They do run small, so the 14 was perfect. Very comfortable, with firm support. Nice cushion, stable, but not bouncy. Think "Teva" is a good alternative to the $150 + hiker that may not deliver on value. Just goes to show that moderate cost can provide a good result.

This is an extremely trustworthy hiking shoe for this price, but not for long. I bought these for a 2 week backpacking trip through Iceland and every single part of my body hurt after that trip except my feet. They are incredibly comfortable with a big toe box and stiff sole to keep the muscles in your feet from overworking when you are carrying a 40 lb. pack. Over snow, mud, ash, volcanic stone, I can assure you no one has tested these shoes in more extreme conditions. That said, they were not made to take this abuse for long. This is where the price tag shows up. They lost their water resistance in about 6 days of straight backpacking. I had to wear plastic bags in my shoes after wards for the rest of the trip. But they still get 4 stars because I beat these shoes into absolute submission and apart from losing water-resistance, they held up beautifully for this trip. Now, a few months later, after wearing them for a few day hikes and around town, they are feeling the Iceland trip. Post-traumatic stress. They are still ridiculously comfortable, but the mesh is ripping and the rubber toe is separating. So sad. These aren't anywhere close to your lifetime hiking boots. They are big dreamers, a trustworthy and pocket-friendly flash in the pan, and might come out of retirement as summer field working/touch football/scenic byway shoes. I am very very fond of them however for how well they treated me in Iceland and will wear them to the bitter end, which is probably soon.

After hearing great things about these shoes from a couple friends I decided to give them a try. I am very happy with them. They are extremely comfortable and durable. Have been so pleased with them that I have purchased an extra pair for myself and a pair for a family member.

The wonderful thing about standards are that there are so many of them. That seems to be particularly true in footwear, where shoes sizes are apparently determined by the phase of the moon during which a shoe is designed. I always replace the standard insoles in my shoes with size 14 high-arch insoles. Sometimes the replacement insoles slide back and forth, sometimes they bunch up a bit at the toe area. In these shoes, the insoles bunch up just a little, so order the next size up. Sadly, I can't, because they top out at size 14, hence the removal of one star. Other than being a little snug in the toe area, the shoes are otherwise comfortable, break in quickly, and provide plenty of traction on outdoor surfaces. They look nice too.

The shoes are comfortable, light in weight, and have a good appearance. As a bonus, the footbed seems to mold to one's feet, and can be worn sock free after break-in.

What a great shoe. I have a wide foot and the Teva Riva Mesh are great. A great looking shoe and extremely comfortable. Better than my Merrells or Keens. Just recently hiked for miles in Yosemite National Park and they were great. Excellent grippy Vibram sole. Top quality shoe at a great price.
