I completed a 50 mile kayaking race on Saturday, and encountered a variety of river bottom conditions - gravel, rock, sand, mud. These shoes were great for all those conditions. They stayed on my feet in the muck, kept out gallons of sand and gravel, and didn't feel like my feet were being sliced to ribbons on rock. In fact, I didn't even think about my feet in those 50 miles, and that says a lot - these shoes are a keeper!
Update post Belize: wore these to walk to a cave, climb in the cave and then to walk in the stream after tubing. They are very comfortable. However the small rocks and sand in the stream get into the shoes and I had to stop and take them off. Not sure if tying them tighter would help.
Another day I wore them with socks to work. They are pretty cute, and versatile. I love the slate with blue color.
