I love spicy foods, and the Tex-Mex theme is one that I seem drawn too. I haven't seen many cookbooks with a lot of recipes in that genre, so I snapped this one up to give it a try. I was happy with what I found. The recipes were simple and easy to follow; using packaged seasonings so there was less measuring of all the little ingredients. There were many varieties of the standard tacos and enchiladas, including casseroles. There were also some tasty vegetarian dishes, for those meatless diners. I especially enjoyed the Texas Taco Salad. I have fixed about 8 of these recipes, and plan to work my way through the rest.

If your only real knowledge of Mexican and Tex-Mex food is the local Taco Bell you'll probably like this. Lots of recipes with white meat chicken(a few with ground beef), bags of Fritos,Velveeta cheese, cans of soup and pre packaged taco seasoning mix. If however you love real Mexican and Tex Mex food, this is not for you. Not that the recipes all sound bad,I just don't need about six of them that are for taco salad where the only real difference is what type of bottled salad dressing you pour over them.

These are the kind of recipes you make when you want to eat and feel satisfied. They are not hoity-toity gourmet recipes with 500 ingredients, just plain, down-home comfort foods that fill your belly without emptying your pocket. The recipes are easy to follow, the results are easy to eat! I must disclose that I got this book for free, but it is worth buying. It has a large variety of recipes, but they are Tex-Mex, so don't go looking for some of the absurd things "foodies" are flocking to. Beans, salsas, meats, taco salads. A little taste of heaven!

This is nothing but just another great cookbook, especially for those who love spicy food. I would say that it is a great resource for people in all corners of the world, not just the US and Mexico. In this book, you will find recipes to fascinating Tex-Mex food, with great variety and easy-to-follow instruction.

I have tried a two dishes over the weekend and it came out great. I am looking forward to more wonderful dinners with my family, with the dishes presented in this book. The author has done a great job and I am looking forward to more cookbook from him

I love the flavor of these foods. Many people believe it is the Mexican people who add excessive amounts of taste (Hot pepper), but I credit that to Texans. Most Mexican food that I have eaten has moderate to mild use of hot peppers, but leave it to a real Texan to bring that up to a boil. If you like spice, then you know what I mean. If you don't like spicy food, you may not like this book!

...but didn't find it. I was hoping for scratch recipes for Tex-Mex dishes because I live in South Texas. What I got was recipes using canned sauces and packaged ingredients. If you live somewhere devoid of Mexican immigrants and hence fresh ingredients, but you long for a taste of Tex-Mex cuisine, this book will do a good job for you. However, if you want the secrets of Abuela's home cooking, skip this book.
