Ah, Yes, Tex Ritter,
By Eclectic Revisited "Charlie" (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tex Ritter - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I believe this is the best of the Tex Ritter compilations you will find if it is in the form you want to have. I met Tex briefly in the late 60s at an underattended concert. We all got to hear the classic "Do Not Forsake Me" written by Ned Washington who wrote so very many songs, including TV's "Rawhide", "Gunslinger" (remember that one?) and the movie theme for "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" (all by Frankie Laine) and many non-western songs. Tex did "I Dreamed of a Hillbilly Heaven" first written and sung by movie cowboy Eddie Dean who did not reach the heights Tex had known as a cowboy actor. Those two songs and the traditional "Rye Whiskey" made the concert (and make this compilation) worth the price paid. I don't think you'll do better in content than this one.

Hillbilly Heaven,

This cd is priceless for just one song. I dreamed of a hillbilly heaven brings a tear to my eye each time I play it. It makes me miss Will Rogers,Hank Williams,Roy Rogers,Eddie Dean, and Tex himself. It is truly one of the all time great country songs flawlessly performed by Tex.

My family loves Tex Ritter, he is one that we can listen to all day. We bought it for one special song which touches our heart. The name of the song is a deck of cards, where he uses cards to tell the bible.

Tex Ritter Greatest Hits,
This review is from: Tex Ritter - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I received the CD Tex Ritter Greatest Hits within a week of ordering. The sound is great. My best liked is "Have I Told You LatelyThat I Love You" and "There's A New Moon Over My Sholder". Just like I rembened on raido in the old days. These CD's I can not find in the stores and glad I found them on Amazon.com Earler I orded "The Essential Roy Accuf" and enjoyed such songs as "Great Speckle Bird" and "Wreck on The Highway" which my fokes had on old 78 RPM records in the 1940's and the records are no longer. At the same time I orded "The Best Of Ernest Tub The Millennium Collection" and all good songs like "Walking The Floor Over You. All have very good sound. They came in two packages on different days. For thosr who lived the 1930's 40's 50's and love cowboy and western music will love these old slections.
