Kevin and Cara painfully realize that they are still madly in love with each other even though they have been separated for four years. In the final moments before signing their divorce papers, they have the long-awaited and overdue 'talk' thereby reconciling and saving their marriage.

Moral of the story is money does not buy happiness, and at times success can be disasterous. Good storyline with well developed characters and, of course, the obligatory 'happy ever after' ending.

I'm a reader of Sands' books and I thought this was a good addition to the Texas Cattleman's Club. The characters were interesting, but what I loved most was that the story was about second chances. Kevin is a rancher who initially wants to get revenge on his estranged wife by making her fall in love with him so he can then leave her, but what ends up shining through is all the love the two felt when they first met. A worthy read!

I really can't find anything good to say about this book. Except, I guess, that it's short. Cara wants a divorce from her husband, Kevin, so she can get a loan from the bank. She left him four years earlier because he paid more attention to work than to her. He's naturally pretty upset that she began the separation by splitting in the middle of the night. He agrees to sign the papers if she lives with him for a week. Her counteroffer: one night of sex. (You've got to be kidding!) He insists she hang around for two weeks first. His plan is to make her fall in love with him again so he can reject her.

I hated both of their characters. Cara periodically thinks how mad she is that Kevin is "blackmailing" her, but she doesn't act mad. And their arrangement isn't blackmail! She negotiated the deal. She could have taken him to court instead. She keeps remarking how charming and sexy he is, but all I saw was an arrogant, sleazy creep who calls women "babe." Yuck.

There were a hundred things about the plot and the writing that irritated the hell out me, but suffice it to say the book is awful straight through to its quickly wrapped up (and completely unbelievable) happy ending.
