Karen Rose Smith's plots are all about emotion. She began writing in her early teens when she listened to music and created stories to accompany the songs. After expressing feelings in poetry, earning a degree in English and French, completing short stories that became too long to find a market, she turned to her love of relationships in romance. Karen is well-known for writing emotion. An only child, she spent a lot of time in her imagination and with books Nancy Drew, Zane Gray, The Black Stallion and Anne of Green Gables. She dreamed of brothers and sisters and a big family like her mother and father came from--seven children in her mom's family and ten in her dad's. On weekends she was often surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins. This is the root of her plotlines that include small communities and family relationships as part of everyday living. It is no secret that Karen married her college sweetheart and they have been married for over thirty years. A great storyline, well-developed characters, and a variety of modern social topics that make wonderful fodder for book clubs nationwide are found in this well written novel with the misleading title. Once Gina and Logan are openly honest with each other and the hidden truths behind their earlier failed love tryst are revealed. They are able to move forward and recommit to one another. Thereby creating the long-overdue, 'fairy-tale' ending that is synomonous with romance novels. I enjoyed reading the novel but my attention, especially in the middle of the story, wavered slightly as Gina mentally 'yammered on' about revealing to Logan his father's discussion, about disinheriting him, with her.

Gina Rigoletti and Logan Barnes were sweethearts in high school in Sagebrush, Texas. Their relationship ended fourteen years ago when she left town for college. Now she has come home to join the nearby Lubbock Family Tree Health Center to open up her Baby Grows infant and toddler development service.

CEO Logan Barnes hires the firm to look at his fourteen month old son Daniel who is way behind in development. He has doubts about having the woman who broke his teenage heart in their lives, but needs her expertise. As she works diligently and kindly with Daniel, Logan and Gina know the attraction remains strong. However, he still grieves the death of his wife Amy to cancer and she never moved passed a date rape at school.

This is a wonderful family drama second chance at love tale as only Karen Rose Smith can provide. The story line is driven by the needs of Daniel as Gina and Logan recognize their past and present feelings must take a back seat to the child. Even with that the adults and their issues are fully developed leaving readers to admire Ms. Smith's skill at a heart-wrenching contemporary; the author is four for four with her superb baby Experts saga.
