A little bit of Austin history,
By
This review is from: Texas Eastside Kings (Audio CD)
The musicians on this CD are long-time local Austin musicians who would often play behind blues giants like B.B. King or T Bone Walker when those stars needed a backing band when they performed in Austin. They decided to get together in 2003 and record a CD of original compositions. The result is competent and polished rhythm and blues performed by experienced musicians who love to play the blues. I would call this CD a "pleasant surprise." It's pleasant to listen to, and surprisingly well-done for musicians who likely never rose above the bar circuit.I picked up this CD during a recent visit to Austin. It was on the racks in every CD store and souvenir shop in Austin. When I asked a CD store staffer to recommend "local blues" CDs, this is one he picked. I don't regret picking this one up, and I'll probably listen to it often.
