5.0 out of 5 stars A THOUSAND STARS IN THE SKY LIKE THE STARS IN YOUR EYE, February 7, 2010
By
This review is from: Texas Funk 1968-1975 (Audio CD)
I can't rave enough about this series. All the artists for their contribution, along with the Jazz Man/Now Again label should get a Grammy for this. From the superb reproduction of the original mono sound, from the choice of material, from the muted colors of the photos used, to the color of the graphics, the liner notes, everything was done by people with the sharpest of the sharpest artist's eye. It does not matter which you choose, Midwest, Florida, Carolina or Texas, they are all incredible. My hat off to the label, too, for not issuing this in a cheapo box set. Just buy them all. This music has put me in other worlds. The next best ones are Searching For Soul and Getting It Off.

This review is from: Texas Funk 1968-1975 (Audio CD)
This is from a guy who was raised on rock and rap until the early
90's when I got turned on to the Meters. It has never been the same
since. It is a requirement for anyone who loves the funk to own this
CD.

Really enjoyed this album and felt there was real promise in some of the music. Now I think I know where Sly & The Family Stone grew up. It's really nice stuff with a clean, crisp sound for those of you who like early funk. It's another one of those that makes you want to know how it all turned out for the participants.
