* It's like an entire firearms law library at your fingertips

* It doesn't make sense to own a gun and not know the rules

* You sure don't want to be in trouble for a rule you never heard of

* Ignorance is no excuse-it's better to know the rules

* You have a right to know what the laws are

* Cheaper than a lawyer, and better than many!

* It's actually fun to read!

* If you knew all your rights you might demand them

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the most recent version!, November 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased a used copy of The Texas Gun Owners Guide from Amazon and found that with all the changes in the law that the version that I had was very much out of date and offered incorrect information because of changes in the law. Make sure that you purchase the most recent version. Otherwise the book is well written and filled the gaps from my recent CHL class. The author maintains a website and an email service to keep the user up to date on law changes.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY helpful, November 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Yes, the first thing out of my CHL instructor's mouth (about this book) was "it's out of date". I still consider this book was very helpful. Most of the information is perfectly correct, and all the important information is and will most likely remain correct, plus it has some very well written ways of telling you in plain English, the things you need to consider before using deadly force. The book uses excellent humor to illustrate what it's trying to get across. I consider this book indispensable. I was the only person in our class to ace the CHL written test. I recommend this book for anyone in Texas that has a gun, and plans on using it for protection. This book contains information that no one is born knowing. Owning a gun in Texas is NOT all common sense. Of course, you must stay current on all gun laws in Texas, since they're subject to change every 2 years- and they're easily obtainable online, However, I enjoyed this book and very glad I purchased it.
