About the Author

Author Alan Burton, a native of Sherman, Texas, is currently Assistant Director of Public Information and Special Events at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. Burton has authored two previous books, both published by Texas Tech University Press.

Alan Burton has spent 25 years in the Communications/PR field in Texas and Oklahoma. He began his career as a sportswriter before embarking on a career in public relations in common education (K-12) and higher education.
His writing has earned awards from the Associated Press, the Texas School Public Relations Association, and the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association.
Burton has authored five Texana-related books on such topics as sports, music and celebrities. His newest book is "Pirates, Soldiers & Fat Little Girlfriends" -- More Classic Texas Sports Quotes.
