I purchased one of these for everyday office use in 1987. It's worked perfectly sans the clock with battery (in the older models) until last week when a couple of segments in the far right number failed. It's been beat up on my desk in constant use, with no need for batteries, all that time. And it does everything I've ever needed for 98% of sales and marketing number tasks flawlessly, easily, and simply. I don't ever remember having to consult the instruction book to know how to work it like I do my more sophisticated one that I use maybe 2% of the time. And I remember paying about the same for the one I'm retiring as I'll pay now, which is a deal you can't beat. This product is a real winner for both value and features.

I was looking for a calculator to use at home in place of my handheld one. I wanted a Desktop calculator so I can enter the numbers without looking at the calculator. Unfortunately, although the keys are larger than the handheld, they are really to small to be considered a Desktop.

I am in sales and frankly I do not know what I did before I had this product. A friend turned me on to his Profit Manager BA-20 that he purchased more than a decade ago and the only thing that has changed is the color and the Texas Instruments logo. The reason...it is perfect. Simple and easy to use there is no wasted space. The buttons are large and easy to see and because I can calculate margins, cost, & sell prices quickly it has made me a better negotiator. If you have anything to do with sales you need to have the Profit Manager BA-20.

This was a huge disappointment. I had owned this same calculator for 15+ years with no issues and hadn't read the reviews. Since it was the same manufacture and model number I thought I would be good to go.

Must have direct or very bright light for it to operate. Basically anytime after 4pm EST (during winter) it's inoperable.

I'm disappointed in this calculator. I purchased it because I needed a profit manager calculator and its description says that it operates even in low light conditions. It does not work unless I have a really bright light over it or natural sunlight.

I have worked in commission sales for over 30 years and this profit calculator is great and easy to use. You just type in the cost of what you are selling and the profit margin you want and it gives you that price! Or I can put in a competitors price and my cost and see what kind of margin I'd make. I bought 3 and may buy more for co-workers.

From what I have found if one is considering this calculator, one must ensure that direct sunlight or strong indoor lighting is present at ALL times, otherwise its operation is pretty much useless. Possibly this calculator relies on its photoelectric cell only for power and has no backup or otherwise. It is being donated to the thrift store. Beware.

I've used this unit since 1967! I've sold multimillion dollars of ladies apparel at a profitable MARGIN. This is a must for all retailers. Simple and easy.

This is a nice little calculator. I only wish I had gotten a larger one.

I was disappointed in this calculator. Since it has no battery backup, I can't use it in my office after about 5:00PM because it's not bright enough to generate the power needed for the solar cells. It seems almost unbelievable that they would design something like that, but they did and it does'nt work in low light situations, which makes it useless 50% of the time for me.
