Great, usable, cost-efficient calculator,

I bought this calculator b/c the National Board in Examiners of Optometry (NBEO) only allow Texas Instruments 30-series calculators on their exam. It's a good calculator and does just about anything you need it to for practical uses. I don't want to be rude, but the previous reviewers weren't "on the ball" on this one. If you want a solar model, buy one. This exact calculator is available in both battery and solar power. Your fault. To find square roots of a previously entered number, use the "Ans" key and close the parentheses inside the root bar. For basic exponents, use the "^" key. Don't blame the manufacturer for your incompetance.Overall, don't listen to the previous 2 reviewers, and buy this calculator for use with any major exam (it will likely be one of the few permissible anyway).

I've had this calculator for the longest time now... I bought the first one in middleschool and my two youngest brothers ended up borrowing it from me. It lasted me through my second year in college (math models class) and I just bought it again for pre-med stats class in college. It is a great calculator...its all you need for statistics without having to carry an expensive and heavy graphing calculator around. Make sure when you buy a Ti calculator that is is a solar or a battery calculator. you can see this by looking at the model #. example:TI-30XIIB This model ends with a B so it is battery powered. S would be solar. Hope this helps!

Product is fine portable calculator wehich efficeinty does calculations in math, trig, stat etc.Written instructions are the poorest I have seen in 40 years using calculators and computers. Do you know of a real insturction manual? Harlan Rainey

I used this calculator of 2 college math classes: Beginning Algebra and Statistics. It is a good calculator. It did everything that I needed it to do.The only thing that I wished it has would be a solar power strip because I'm always worried that I left it on and now the battery is dead, especially right before a test.

i'm taking the civil pe exam next month, and picked this calculator up as it's one of only 5 or so that you are allowed to bring. the calculator is fine and does everything you would want it to (short of the little programs that you may have gotten used to on your graphing calculator). to the reviewer from june 2005. what an idiot!!! the exponent button is the same "carrot" or up arrow that is on almost ALL calculators. 5 to the 25th power is 5 "UP" 25. and square roots aren't hard. if you have big long number as the person was saying, type square root, then ANS, to get the root of your last ANSWER. this guy is just a total retard. any normal person with about 5 minutes of playing around can figure out how to do Everything he or she needs on this calculator.

IMPORTANTyou are better off buying the S version of this calculator because it contains solar power and a battery. This only contains a battery. i think the S type will be more dependable expecially if you are buying this product for a standard test like the FE or PE; it's also cheaper. Hope this helps.

Bought this in late '04. Practically unused and sitting in its protective cover. I go to use it this semester and... nothing, it won't turn on. Open case and battery is good. Call TI, they tell me it is out of warranty and to have it serviced I will have to pay $7, +$4 shipping, +$5 return shipping. More than calculator is worth. I had an old TI-30 that lasted more than 5 years of heavy use. What happened to TI quality? I can't recommend this piece.
