Unlikeable characters...., November 22, 2009
This review is from: A Texas-Made Family (Harlequin Super Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I`m a long time fan of romance novels as a means to escape the stresses of everyday life. I`m an intuitive counselor so I know alot about human nature. I believe the most important aspect of any good book is character developement. If the characters are likeable you care about what`s happening to them and you can`t wait to see how things work out for them. The characters in this book, especially Rebecca the heroine, were irritating at best. Her belief system was ridgid. Her control issues irritating. I found very little about her that was the least bit appealing. The hero of course falls in love with her almost immediately....why is never really apparent. He already had one bad marriage. I guess some people never learn. His daughter who`s suppose to be 11 acts more like she`s 5.The older daughter and son each of Rebecca and Grant arn`t even much like normal teens. Only Rebecca`s 14 year old son seems normal and wise . If these two ever married I guarentee they`d be divorced before the prolog was written. Don`t waste your time or money. (This book was so bad I was surprised to see the author had actually written so many! Maybe she was going through writers block)
