Book Description

Fancy Holleday has more nerve than the average cardsharp. No man can resist her smoky voice and violet eyes—and that includes the federal tinstar, Cord Rawlins.

Cord may have tracked her all the way to Texas to recover the U.S. minting plates that she stole, but the Nevada penitentiary is a long ride north, giving her plenty of time to charm, seduce, or just plain outsmart the handsome Texas lawman.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Cord Rawlins is sworn to bring renegades to justice—including the brazen lady train robber who turned the tables on him near Carson City.

Tracking Fancy down is Cord's job, but resisting her persistent persuasions is a matter of personal honor. With Fancy's life in his hands, Cord begins to wonder if his clever prisoner is really as shameless as she pretends. Could her wicked smile be hiding a desperate secret—one that can steal his heart?

From the Inside Flap

With her violet eyes and sultry smile, Fancy Holleday knew there wash t a man alive she couldn't charm, seduce, or just plain outsmart. And that included federal marshal Cord Rawlins. The rugged lawman might have tracked her down, but it was a long way to the jail, time enough for Fancy to lure the handsome Texan into sin. Cord Rawlins was sworn to uphold the law. Yet when this brazen lady train robber got the best of him, hunting her down became a matter of honor. Now, all he wants is to reach Carson City and turn his shameless prisoner in -- until he discovers that beneath Fancy's wicked ways lie a secret sorrow and a desperate longing that could steal his heart....

5.0 out of 5 stars A book I would recommend August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am one who has to be grabbed from the beginning or I lose interest in a book but this book did not disappoint. This book kept you wanting more. I work full time and raise 2 active boys and looked forward to being able to get a minute to open my kindle and read this book. It brings a grief stricken honorable lawman into the life of a not so honorable female outlaw. You get to see the connection early on and watch it develop into something. You also watch the outlaw learn and grow into something that she never thought she would. It also gives a fairy tale ending that you are so wanting to happen for this couple. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am going to read the next book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yeehaw! August 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'd read this series when it first came out several years ago. So I was thrilled to see it in the format I buy books in now - Kindle! Adrienne's writing is so ALIVE. You can hear and see and feel her characters. The plot is surprising and twisty in such a creative way - that yes - you can't put it down! You'll be hooked and you'll end up buying the series - but I promise you'll love every word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bravo for Ms. DeWolfe !!! August 15, 1999
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Very good written love story and well developed characters. I'm very particular with my reading material. I found Texas Outlaw a few years ago and took a chance to buy it because my favorite authors' were not available. I'm hooked eversince, bought all her other books (Texas Lover and Texas Wildcat) but Texas Outlaw is the best of the three. Ms Dewolfe evenly went in depth with all her characters both protagonist and antagonist. Nothing is as black and white as bad man vs good guy. The most poignant is when the minor character Blisse is dying and she asked for a decent kiss from Cord, wow... both Cord and Fancy earned my admiration. I wish Ms DeWolfe wrote more than just the Rawlins Brothers series.

2.0 out of 5 stars I finally finished it September 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book has all the ingreidents for a fine book' a grief stricken marshall; a woman wanting to change for the better; a good basic story line. But the constant bickering in the first two thirds of the book is so monotonous I lost interest in the book to the point reading the last third a chore. The book probably would have been better at half it's length.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another author to add to my "must buy" list June 2, 1997
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I thoroughly enjoyed Adrienne deWolfe's book, Texas Outlaw. After writing this, I'm ordering the other two available titles. Characters were truly likeable and believable. I am sorry Fancy had to have such a tough life before the story began. Usually, I prefer the hero of the story to "deflower" the heroine--but hey, it all worked out and made the story more realistic. Cheers to a new favorite

4.0 out of 5 stars A different kind of heroine and good lawman August 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fancy just wants to be accepted, prove that she's not too old to turn a man's eye, and marry the man who treats her like dirt, but saved her from a life as a whore. She'd do anything for the good for nothing outlaw Diego, even help rob a train.

Cord is the Marshal, her mark, too bad the man can see right through her ruse. When the robbery takes a turn for the worst, she barely escapes in the cold winter night, believing that Diego is dead by Cord's hand. Cord has to save face. Ridiculed because of the robbery, he wants to redeem himself by bringing in Fancy and her minting plates worth a fortune to face prosecution. When forced to work together to keep her alive, will the past keep them going after what they really want?

I have to admit, that eighty percent throughout this book, I wanted to strangle these two! Every time they took a step toward each other, one of them erected walls so damn quick that I suffered a headache. It was starting to get old, when it happened again and again. But despite that, it kept me going. I wanted to know who had the plates, how were they going to find a future together when so much stood between them, including the walls they themselves put up. I refuse to believe a woman with her guileless would be so blind to understand when a man loves her and when another is using her. Which Fancy did A LOT in this book.

It was a good read that kept me entertained and frustrated, but still willing to buy the next book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably bad! August 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
"There wasn't a man alive she couldn't charm, seduce, or just plain outsmart." The plot of this book revolves around Fancy Holleday, a former whore, who is supposedly so amazing she can use all her wiles against any man and win. Yet, she is thinking the quote listed above as she is walking in freezing temperatures after her lover tried to kill her during their train robbery when she was no longer useful. Then, she was left to freeze to death by another outlaw she had saved from certain death at this very same train robbery. She may have been good at seducing men, but this character proved her idiocy within the first two chapters. The dialogue in this book is horrible, and it left me cringing and shaking my head. This is undoubtedly one of the worst books I've ever read. Fancy describes the Marshall's legs as "stumpy and bowed". Was I seriously supposed to get into this romance when now I think the love interest is short, bow-legged, and looks like a weathered cowpoke?

1.0 out of 5 stars Just bad February 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
With all the good historical western romances out there, this one really wasn't worth the time it took to find out how bad it was. The heroine thought she could get whatever she wanted from a man, when in fact, she was not too bright.
I found it just dragging on and on with no real plot. My advice would be to pass this one up.
