superb Texas historical romance,
This review is from: Texas Princess (Whispering Mts) (Paperback)
In 1855 although he would have preferred not to accept the job, Whispering Mountain Ranch horse breeder Tobin McMurray knows the fee is too good to pass up; so he agrees to deliver a horse to Liberty Mayfield, daughter of a senator. He also to his chagrin accepted the stipulation that he teach Liberty to ride the steed.
Upon arriving at the Mayfield spread, Tobin is shocked to find his student avoiding her cold-blooded demanding fiancé Captain Samuel Buchanan in the barn from her. As he teaches her to ride, he also in his quiet way shows her how to be strong. When someone tries to assassinate her father, Tobin helps Liberty escape. As the reticent rancher and the fearful female head to the safety of his grandfather's Apache tribe, they fall in love. However, Buchanan is coming for her with help because he wants to control the Mayfield fortune. Texas historical romance readers will cherish the latest winner from Jodi Thomas due to the lead couple; as each has people issues. The fast-paced story line never misses a beat once Tobin and Liberty meet. Although Buchanan is too brutal to be in the running for the caring Liberty, this is a terrific Thomas Texas tale. The long wait is over, and once again we can be drawn into the fantastic world of Texan strong-but-silent heroes who have a woman's best interests always at heart, where love triumphs and evil-doers meet the fate they deserve!
When Tobin McMurray delivers a horse to Liberty Mayfield, he soon finds that the ordinary job he had hoped for has instead involved him into something he never really wanted -- romance. Complications and plot twists allow this wonderful author to shine, quickly involving readers into a wonderful story with characters so beautifully drawn that we can't help but keep turning the pages to find out what will happen next. Texas Princess is a superlative example of what keeps readers coming back for novel after novel. Brava, Jodi Thomas!

The second book of Ms Thomas's Whispering Mountain trilogy, this story features the youngest brother, Tobin McMurray. For someone who doesn't like to talk to people, he doesn't have any trouble when it comes to Liberty Mayfield. That's because she speaks the language of the heart. When she needs a rescuer, he doesn't hesitate. Through the course of the story, Tobin's thoughts are always on Liberty's safety and security, regardless of any danger he's in. He's the type of strong silent hero that I dream of having. True to the Code of the West, although he's an expert shot, he never draws his gun unless he has to and then it's with deadly accuracy. Of the three brothers, Tobin is the most sensitive to the needs of others. After his sister receives the news that her fiance has been killed, he's the one who comforts her. An especially moving scene is the fiance's burial on Whispering Mountain.
This was a very well crafted, deeply emotional story of love triumphing over evil and justice for the lawless. The book satisfied me and left me wanting more. I won't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who's looking for high excellence in western romance. I can't wait to see Ms Thomas's next story in this trilogy. I know it'll be great.

Melt my heart....Fabulous book!,

Sensual, emotional and everything else you could want in a romance.
This is my first book by Jodi and I'm thrilled to have found a western romance author that delivers everything I want in a book. Tobin is to die for and Liberty is spirited and a perfect match for Tobin. Lots of lust, passion and most of all heartfelt emotion which makes Texas Princess a winner. This is the second book in the Whispering Mountain trilogy and the first I've read. I just finished book three, Tall, Dark and Texan and am waiting for Texas Rain (book 1) to arrive. It can't get here fast enough. If you love western romance and you love an emotional romance that is built up slowly until you get to the big payoff, with a lot of touching and emotional scenes in between you can't miss with any of the Whispering Mountain books. I'm running out and collecting as many Jodi Thomas books as I can. What a true talent. Can October get her fast enough for Sage and Drummond's story? NO!!!!!! You are teased in book two and three at a possible relationship between these two and what I think will be an explosive story about two people destined to be together. I can't wait to see Drummond win Sage's heart.

Terrific Western Romance..Ignore Cheesy Cover,

This review is from: Texas Princess (Whispering Mts) (Paperback)
This is the first Jodi Thomas for me and what a fantastic western it turned out to be. The summary really doesn't do it justice. On the surface it's about the strong, silent rancher and the spoiled rich girl he's been commissioned to protect. Predictably opposites attract, but this story will grab you and thrust you headlong into an adventure and romance that never feel contrived. Thomas creates a truly authentic feel for the period and ranching life, I wanted to get on a horse. The characters of Tobin, Libby, and secondary cast are so fully realized and vivid I felt as if I was traversing the west with them. The romance is heartfelt, both hot and sweet. This is one of those stories you'll want to revisit over time. I'm glad this is part of a series and I can't wait to see what happens to the rest of the McMurray clan.

Great book. My favorite from the series. I read it twice because there was a time gap between the books. And it was even better the second time around. Great job Jodi!!

Skillfully written western romance,
This review is from: Texas Princess (Whispering Mts) (Paperback)
At first glance, this book looks like run of the mill western romance, but the writer's talent and skill at character development quickly sets it apart. I enjoyed the emotional subtleties and family loyalties of the novel, and appreciated that there were actual obstacles to the couple getting together, not just contrived plot devices. Also, it was more realistic that it took the couple a while for their relationship to deepen into love. The writer was better with relationships and characters than details of a suspenseful plot, but it didn't affect the book much. All in all, a great book, superior in the romance genre.

I loved this story. It keeps you guessing right up to the end. You know you're reading a romance novel, and the loving couple usually ends up together in the end, but when you read this one you're not sure, until the very end. It's not a typical story and yet it is. It's a paradox.
