WONDERFUL INSPIRATIONAL ROMANCE SUSPENSE! Texas Pursuit by Debra White Smith, July 8, 2010
This review is from: Texas Pursuit: Lone Star Intrigue #2 (Paperback)
TEXAS PURSUIT by Debra White Smith is a wonderful, delightful Inspirational Romance/suspense fiction set in modern day Bullard, Texas. It is the second in the Lone Star Intrigue series, but can the read as a stand alone. It is well written with detail and depth. The series is about three siblings, first is Jack, chief of police, Sonny, private detective/photographer, and Ryan, highway patrol officer. They make up the Mansfield brothers. This story has intrigue, faith, family, friendship, suspense, stalking, adoption, finding love, and finding your faith again. It intertwines how a friendship and love can grow and mature. This story is about Sonny, the private detective/photographer, he is strong, troubled from his past, and attracted to our heroine. Tanya, is a Physician Assistant, she is beautiful, stalked by a sociopath, has an adopted son who is 3 years old, and is attracted to our hero. This story shows us how our faith can take the bad and ugly and turn it into something good and sweet. This is a sweet, tender love story with twists and turns. I would recommend this one especially if you enjoy Inspirational suspense, romance, intrigue and a quick read. If you have not read book one of this series Texas Heat, I would also recommend picking it up also. You will not regret it. This book was received for review and details can be found at Avon Inspire, an Imprint of Harper Collins Publishers and My Book Addiction and More.

Perfect amount of suspense and romance for a fun summer read, June 24, 2010
This review is from: Texas Pursuit: Lone Star Intrigue #2 (Paperback)
If you are looking for a fun, intriguing and faith based romantic suspense to read this summer, this book should definitely be on your list. Be forewarned-this storyline is addictive and you will want to read it one shot; I suggest finding a nice spot in the sun with some iced tea and settle in for an afternoon reading. It is not overly long so one day is sufficient if you block out the world like I did :) My heart was beating, my fingernails were bitten to the quick, and I held my breathe on more than a few pages.
I would recommend reading this series in order, otherwise you will be lacking some important background information about the Mansfield brothers and what has brought them to this point in each of their lives. I liked that the struggles of the other two brothers were woven into this book because it allows the reader to have a sense of camaraderie with the character once they reach their book. Because family is such a central element in this storyline it is very intriguing to see the polarity between Tanya and Sonny's parental relationships and how it affects their outlook on parenthood.
This book ended too soon for me, which attests to the connection readers make with the characters and how absorbing the storyline is. I do feel that the ending was a little rushed, but I am consoled with the fact that Sonny and Tanya will be back (at least as minor players) in the third and final installment of this series.

Really good book!, June 18, 2010
This review is from: Texas Pursuit: Lone Star Intrigue #2 (Paperback)
First, let me tell you that I read this book in one day. Yes, it was that good. I just couldn't put it down. From page one, I was drawn into the story and had interest in what was going to happen to the characters. I love a story like that - you don't have to keep reading and reading to finally have some empathy for the characters. The story kept me on the edge of my seat (so to speak) throughout the whole book. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, I didn't. Don't you love that?
The story is romantic but more importantly, for me anyway, the story was intriguing. You weren't sure what was going to happen - there was some mystery to it. The characters were believable and human. The romance was sweet and not sappy.
Here's what makes the book the best for me, however. The Christian walk that some of the characters have is normal. How many times have I read a Christian fiction book where the characters are either saints or spouting the Gospel at every unconceivable moment? Neither one of these senarios is realistic. Tanya's (the main character) walk with the Lord is real and something I could relate to. She's always trying to do better but isn't a saint that intimidates those around her, including the reader.
I also like the family dynamics in this book. Tanya's relationship with her parents is sweet and truly what family should be like. Her parent's interest and concern for her is wonderful yet never intrusive.
This book is the second book in Debra White Smith's "Lone Star Intrigue" series, however, it totally stands alone. You won't be wondering about what happened before with any of the characters because this story is a story all to itself. If you're like me, though, you're going to want to run out and get the first book, "Texas Heat".
I highly recommend this book. It was just a very pleasant read with lots of wonderful characters and a great storyline.
